PortionLedger keeps a practical record of the food in your kitchen: how much arrived, where each portion lives, when it was opened or moved, and what was used or discarded. See your kitchen in shelves Browse a visual refrigerator, freezer and pantry with food photos and named shelves. Search by food, location, opening state, tags, dates and quantity. Temperatures are your manual records, never invented sensor readings. Follow real portions Divide one batch into independently tracked portions with their own amounts, containers and locations. Leave an unallocated remainder in the source portion. Merge compatible portions while keeping the original identities in history. Record everyday actions Log actual use, package opening, location changes, thaw starts, thaw completions and discarded food. Add notes and optional photos to the operation itself. No automatic countdown claims food is safely thawed. Keep quantities honest Original quantity equals remaining quantity plus used quantity plus discarded quantity. Decimal amounts preserve exact accounting. Repeated confirmation does not repeat the same split or deduction, and operations save together. Give dates clear meanings Printed use-by or best-before dates, opening dates and your personal check dates remain distinct. Set your own check intervals and optional local notifications. PortionLedger does not inspect food or certify its safety. A visible kitchen history Follow batch and portion timelines, see before-and-after states and add visible corrections. Conflicting quantity corrections are rejected when later dependent operations must be resolved first. Consumption and waste analyses compare matching units only. Labels that belong to the portion Design labels with food name, quantity, portion identity, explicit dates and location. Preview paginated label sheets, export PDF or PNG and use system printing. Optional QR codes contain a random identifier; scan them to locate a matching local record. Your data stays yours No account, advertising, analytics or remote configuration. Your kitchen uses local Core Data storage. Export date-range PDF and CSV journals or create and restore a full JSON backup including stored photos. An editable demo kitchen is clearly marked on first launch. Clear it in Your Data to start your own collection. Always follow package instructions and applicable food-safety guidance. Personal check reminders are not food-safety deadlines. The app does not determine freshness, safe thawing or whether food is safe to eat. Costs use your entered currency without currency conversion.
