Slimo – CPU & Memory Monitor
CPU, memory & stay awake
Only for Mac

Mac
Slimo is a menu bar companion that shows how hard your Mac is working.
THE SLIME
A small slime lives in your menu bar and wiggles faster as CPU load and memory pressure rise. Two thin bars next to it show CPU and memory pressure at a glance. They turn yellow or red only when memory pressure is actually a problem, not just because memory is full.
WHAT'S HEAVY RIGHT NOW
Click the slime to see the top apps by CPU and by memory. Processes are grouped by app, and any row expands to show the processes behind it with sparklines. Scripts run from a terminal (node, python and friends) show their script name and working directory. One click brings an app forward or opens Activity Monitor.
LOOK BACK 15 MINUTES
Missed the spike? Switch to "Last 15 min" to see each app's average and peak, with the time the peak happened. The culprit stays on the list even after it has quit.
MEMORY PRESSURE, NOT JUST NUMBERS
macOS keeps memory full on purpose. Slimo shows memory pressure the way the system sees it, so you know when memory is actually tight. Optional notifications warn you when pressure reaches warning or critical.
FREE UP MEMORY
One click nudges the system to reclaim inactive memory and shows the result right on the button. Optionally run it automatically a few seconds after a large app quits.
STAY AWAKE
Keep the display awake for 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours or until you turn it off. Works on battery too. A lightning bolt on the slime tells you it's on. No accessibility permission required.
STORAGE
See how much space is left on your startup disk, with a warning when it runs low.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Slimo collects nothing and never uses the network. All measurements stay on your Mac and are kept in memory for only 15 minutes.
GOOD TO KNOW
• CPU percentages are machine-wide. Activity Monitor treats one core as 100%, so divide its number by your core count to compare.
• App Store apps can't quit other apps. Slimo brings an app forward or opens Activity Monitor instead.
• Freeing memory doesn't make a Mac faster by itself. It helps when pressure is high. The freed amount is approximate, and the Mac may feel slow for a second or two right after.
• Stay Awake prevents idle sleep with the lid open. Closing the lid still sleeps the Mac unless macOS clamshell conditions are met (external display and power adapter).
• Processes owned by the system (Spotlight indexing, Time Machine) can't be read inside the App Store sandbox and are summed as "System / Other".
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
• Last 15 min: an app's peak CPU is shown in yellow at 25% or above and red at 50% or above, so short spikes stand out.
• Right-click the menu bar slime for a menu with Settings, Activity Monitor, and Quit.
• Fixed the panel not reopening after it was opened while another app was in full screen.
