Run Resident Lua apps on simulated ESP32 screens, side by side, and mirror them from the web Bench. New: the Guition 4" 480×480 touch panel, and a focus mode.
Bench simulates the small screens people wire to ESP32 boards, LCDs, AMOLEDs, OLEDs and e-paper, and runs Resident Lua apps on them as a real board would.
It's a virtual board. Each display is modelled on the real part and timed like it: its resolution and colours, how fast a frame crosses its bus, how e-paper refreshes one frame at a time. Put up to four devices side by side, give each an app, and touch the ones that have a touch panel.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Run the bundled apps (clocks, animations, LVGL widgets, a paint app) on every display they fit.
• Touch the touchscreens: apps get touch_down, touch_move, touch_up and touch_tap, as on the hardware.
• Put a device on the Resident relay under its own ID and mirror an app to it from the web Bench at bench.porous.systems. The web Bench's dials, buttons and sensors then drive the app here.
• Receive apps pushed to the device's ID from Claude Code or a script, as a board receives them.
• Focus mode: one screen alone, as big as the window, to stand an iPhone, iPad or Mac up as the display.
• Use a relay of your own, set in Settings.
DISPLAYS
Waveshare ESP32-C6-LCD-1.47, ESP32-S3-Touch-LCD-2, ESP32-S3-Touch-AMOLED-1.32, ESP32-S3-AMOLED-1.91 and its touch version; Seeed Studio Round Display for XIAO; Guition ESP32-S3-4848S040; M5StickC Plus2 and M5StickS3; a 1.3" ST7789 LCD; 0.91" and 0.96" SSD1306 OLEDs; and the Waveshare 2.13" e-paper.
Apps run on the same Lua as the boards (Lua 5.4.7) with the same runtime, so an app that works here works on the hardware.
Resident, the runtime the apps are written for, is made by Inanimate. The web Bench is open source: github.com/sjunnesson/porous-bench.
Bench collects no data.
