You were a clerk when they hanged your master for forging the Great Ledger. This morning, an ink-echo wearing his voice stood at your door and told you to win the truth back, folio by folio.
Welcome to the Assize — a 1v1 sudoku duel in the plague-walled city of Novem, where law is settled by solving.
THE DUEL
Two pleaders. One sealed Tablet of nine by nine. Both solve the same puzzle, at the same table, at the same time.
Place correct digits and build Momentum. Complete a row, a column, or a box to claim it — and wound your foe's wax Seals. Place false ink, and your own Seals crack.
Cast engraved Rites to hinder one another: Chains that lock cells, Smudges that blur digits, Hushes that still your hand, Miasmas that erase your notes, Quarantines that seal whole units from claim. The first pleader to break the other's Seals — or fill the Tablet — prevails.
FOUR ORDERS
Choose your Order before each duel. The Scholar forgives your first mistake and reveals truth. The Executioner punishes the wounded. The Apothecary distills longer torments and mends her own Seals. The Warden wards, mirrors, and quarantines. Twelve Rites in total — every one earned through play, never bought.
THE NINE FOLIOS
Twenty-seven duels across nine Magistrates, from Halbrecht the Headsman to the Ninth Seal himself. A full gothic campaign with prologue, interludes, a twist three Folios in the making, and one choice the Ledger remembers forever: balance the truth, or burn it.
A SHADE THAT LEARNS
The game's opponents are Shades — ink-echoes that genuinely solve the Tablet, climbing the same deduction ladder you do. Duel your own Shade, raised from the record of your past duels: it paces its ink at your tempo, errs where you erred, and adapts when the duel tightens.
EVERY DAY, ONE TABLET
The Daily Assize: one seeded puzzle for every soul on earth, mistakes paid in seconds, streaks tracked in candles. The Weekly Assize: two rotating rule-writs, one sitting. The Endless Assize: the Nine ride again forever — wins ascend, losses return you to the foot.
RANKED DUELS
Authoritative matchmaking with server-side move validation, Elo Standing, and anticheat heuristics. Duel friends with a shared code. Duels survive disconnects with a live grace countdown.
THE HOUSE RULES
- No accounts. No email. No trackers.
- Free to play. Nothing that affects the duel is ever sold.
- Full offline play for campaign, practice, daily, and Shade duels.
- Complete accessibility: full keyboard play, screen-reader labels, reduced-motion and high-contrast modes, three text sizes.
