Rooted Bible is the complete Bible, narrated verse by verse in a single warm voice, with the text highlighted word by word as it is read. Version 1.1 adds two things: short answers written on your iPhone, and a two-page book on iPhone Duo.
ASK, AND SEE WHERE THE ANSWER CAME FROM
On the Search screen, type a question and tap Ask. Rooted Bible searches the Bible first, then Apple Intelligence writes a short answer using only the verses that search found.
- Every reference in the answer is a link: tap it to open the verse.
- A row of verse chips under the answer shows exactly which verses were used, so you can read them for yourself.
- It all happens on your iPhone. Nothing is sent to a server, it works offline, and there is no account and no cost.
The answer is a summary of the verses found, not a teacher or an authority. The verses are always one tap away.
Requires an iPhone with Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro or newer, including iPhone 17e and iPhone Duo) or an iPad with Apple Intelligence, with it turned on. On other devices, search works as it always has.
MADE FOR IPHONE DUO
- Closed, the app fills the outer display, with the tab bar along the side.
- Open, the inner display reads like a book: two pages side by side, and the page curls across the fold as you turn it.
- Long-press a verse for word study and it opens on the facing page, so the verse stays in view.
- On Search, the controls sit on the right, with results and the answer on the left.
ALSO RUNS ON IPAD
Rooted Bible runs on iPad too, with the same reading, listening, study, search and playlists on the bigger screen.
TURN THE PAGE
Reading now turns pages with a paper-curl animation. If you prefer to scroll, switch it off in Settings > Turn pages.
LISTEN AND READ TOGETHER
- Chapter-by-chapter narration of the whole Berean Standard Bible.
- Every word is highlighted as it is spoken, so you can follow along.
- Keeps playing with the screen off, with lock-screen and Control Center controls.
- Sleep timer and repeat.
KEEP IT OFFLINE
- Genesis 1 is built in, so you can start right away.
- Download any book, text and audio together, and read, listen and search with no connection.
STUDY THE ORIGINAL LANGUAGES
- Interlinear Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek beneath the English.
- Strong's numbers with lexicon definitions.
SEARCH
- Find a verse by reference, a subject, an original word or a Strong's number.
- Search now puts the original passage first: look up Abraham and Genesis comes before the later references to him.
PLAYLISTS
- Put any passages together, from anywhere in the Bible, and listen through them in order.
- Set a playlist to repeat, or let the sleep timer stop it.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account, no ads, and no data collected. Answers are written on your device and never leave it.
