Twinread: Learn Turkish & Thai
Bilingual EPUB & PDF Reader
Free · In‑App Purchases
Finally finish a novel in its original language, with the translation beside every page. Tap any word to save it. Translated on your iPhone, offline, no account.
Twinread is an iPhone and iPad app to read books in two languages: your EPUB, PDF or text next to its translation, sentence by sentence, in 20 languages. Tap a word you don't know, see its meaning and keep reading: your own books, not a fixed catalog, translated offline on your iPhone with no account. Try it free on the first 3 chapters of your own book.
Twinread is for readers of novels in the original language, intermediate ESL and language learners ready for real books, and anyone with a foreign-language EPUB or PDF to turn into a bilingual book.
DUAL LANGUAGE BOOKS FROM YOUR OWN FILES
Your imported book becomes parallel text. Tap a sentence and its twin lights up in the translation. Four modes: Facing pages (iPad, iPhone in landscape, unfolded Duo), Stacked, Interlinear (sentence by sentence) and Hidden (tap to reveal).
WHAT YOU CAN OPEN
• DRM-free EPUB, PDF with selectable text, TXT and pasted text
• Web articles shared from Safari
• Free public domain classics from Project Gutenberg
No AI-generated stories: real books by real authors.
TRANSLATED ON YOUR IPHONE
Twinread uses Apple's on-device Translation: once a language pack is downloaded, it works without internet, account or server. 20 languages: Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Dutch, English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese.
WORDS THAT KEEP THEIR SENTENCE
Tap a word for its definition, translation and pronunciation, then save it with its sentence. With Pro, saved words become flashcards with spaced repetition: answer Again, Hard, Good or Easy and Twinread schedules the next review. Export your words as CSV, free.
MADE FOR IPHONE DUO
Unfolded: original on the left, translation on the right. Half open: peek at the translation. On a table: text on top, dictionary below.
ALSO INCLUDED
Reading stats, daily goal, streak, reminders, iPad sidebar and keyboard shortcuts.
FREE AND PRO
Free: unlimited books in the original language, the dictionary, 30 saved words, the first 3 chapters of each book in two languages (up to 12,000 words per book, 20,000 in total) and 1 article a day. Twinread Pro unlocks every chapter in two languages, unlimited words, spaced repetition, read aloud, iCloud sync, 3 widgets, the Sepia and Black themes and full stats. Twinread needs iOS 17 or later, and iOS 18 for translation.
QUESTIONS
How do I read a book in two languages on iPhone?
Import your EPUB, PDF or text into Twinread and pick the book's language and yours: the translation appears beside the original.
Can I translate an EPUB to English?
Yes. Import a DRM-free EPUB from the Files app and pick English: Twinread translates it chapter by chapter, next to the original.
Is Twinread free?
Twinread is free to download: the first 3 chapters of each book show in two languages (up to 12,000 words per book, 20,000 in total) and reading in the original is unlimited. Twinread Pro, weekly with a 3-day free trial or yearly, unlocks every chapter.
Does Twinread translate the whole book or only words?
Twinread translates the full text chapter by chapter and pairs each sentence with its translation; tapping a word adds its definition and pronunciation.
Does Twinread work offline?
Yes. Once the language pack is downloaded, Twinread translates and looks up words without a connection.
