EBL brings your DRM-free EPUB books and PDFs into a focused reader with translation, pronunciation and vocabulary review. READ WITH FOCUS Follow your book sentence by sentence, move between pages and chapters, and return to your saved reading position. Import your own EPUBs and PDFs from Files or through the system Share sheet when a source app supplies the file. UNDERSTAND IN CONTEXT Translate a sentence or select a word or phrase while you read. Hear words and sentences pronounced, and choose the translation language, voice and reading speed that suit you. REMEMBER THE WORDS YOU FIND Save translated words and phrases as flashcards with their source sentence and book. Reveal the meaning and example, review new and due cards with spaced repetition, or practise the cards from a particular source. Search your vocabulary and review across sources. MAKE YOUR PDFS EASIER TO READ Read extracted PDF text with the same reading tools. EBL can recognise text in scanned pages on device. Open the original PDF to view its pages, images and layout, then return to reading the text. Recognition and reading order depend on the document. MAKE IT YOUR READER Choose from five reading fonts, adjust text size, and select Sage, Sepia, Paper or Night. Your reading appearance also carries through to cards and app windows. CONTINUE ON ANOTHER DEVICE Optionally connect the same shared iCloud Drive folder on your devices to merge books, reading positions, cards and preferences. Sync requires folder access on each device and time for iCloud Drive to deliver changes. BEFORE YOU START Bring your own DRM-free EPUB or text-accessible PDF files. EBL does not provide a bookstore catalogue. Locked or text-restricted PDFs require an accessible copy. Apple translation and voices depend on device and language availability. Contextual word alignment with Apple Translate requires iOS or iPadOS 26.4 or later; older supported systems translate the selected word or phrase directly. Some translation languages require downloaded models. Google Translate and Google Text-to-Speech require your own Google Cloud API key, enabled APIs and internet access. Google usage is billed to your Google Cloud account. Apple's system voices do not require a Google Cloud key. The app interface is currently in English.

Fixed Apple Translate sometimes staying on "Translating…" when you translate several sentences or words one after another. If a translation is interrupted, EBL now asks you to select the text again instead of leaving you waiting.
