The HP 49G of 1999, with its computer algebra system — HP's original ROM on an emulated Saturn, your memory and your flash files kept between sessions.
The HP 49G of 1999 took the HP 48 further: a computer algebra system built in, a larger display, an equation writer, 2 MB of flash memory and RPN or algebraic entry. RPN 49G puts one on your iPhone, iPad and Mac.
RPN 49G is not an imitation: it emulates the calculator's hardware — the Saturn processor, the memory controllers, the flash memory and its banks, the 131×64 display, the keyboard, the timers — and runs HP's original ROM, so it behaves exactly as the real machine: every function, every menu, every flag.

ABOUT THE ROM
The app contains no HP software. On first launch HP's ROM package is downloaded from hpcalc.org, the community archive where HP's calculator ROMs are published, exactly as you would with a browser; the image is then kept on your device.
