Land a space shuttle on a carrier and set a helicopter down on a heaving deck. Landing is the easy part—your score is the coffee left in the cup.
Landing safely is the easy part. Your score is how much of the iced americano in the cockpit is left.
It really happened: a single cup of coffee spilled in the cockpit once sent an airliner to the nearest airport. This time, save the coffee.
■ THREE EMERGENCY LANDINGS
· Airport emergency landing: bring an airliner down on the runway through engine failures, gear failures, low hydraulics, crosswinds and turbulence.
· Space shuttle carrier landing: no engines. Dive at 12°, flare, and catch a wire. There is no going around.
· Helicopter deck landing: hover over a frigate deck that heaves and rolls, then touch down as it drops.
■ THE COFFEE LEFT IS YOUR SCORE
The coffee in the glass mug feels every bump. Bank hard or land hard and it sloshes onto the tray. From butter landings to coffee catastrophes, your grade depends on what's left. On the carrier and the frigate, tap "Grab cup" just before touchdown to save it.
■ SIMPLE CONTROLS
Drag anywhere to bank and raise the nose. Slide the lever on the left for thrust, speed brake or collective. Switch between cockpit and chase view at any time.
■ WEATHER
Clear skies, or a downpour with barely 2 km visibility. In the rain you'll find the runway past the wipers, with the odd lightning flash.
■ RESULT CARD
Turn your landing into a card image to save or share.
