Wordless Manual
A puzzle told in pictograms
$4.99 · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Locked in a flat-pack showroom after closing, with only an instruction booklet that has no words. Read its pictures, rebuild the rooms and find a way out.
You fall asleep in a vast flat-pack showroom and wake after closing. The arrows on the floor lead back to where you started, and your only guide is an instruction booklet with no words.
Read the page. Edit the room. Walk through.
Each page of the manual shows a room in pictograms. Rotate, attach, remove and swap the pieces, or wait for the room to change, then walk through the door. Read the diagrams closely, and now and then read them wrong on purpose.
- 40 room kits in four departments: Kitchens, Bedrooms, Lighting and the Warehouse.
- The glyphs start clear and grow more cryptic the deeper you go.
- No fail state: undo, restarting a kit and step-by-step hints are always free.
- A story told in pictures: story pages, hidden secrets and rescues slowly show what happened to the night staff who never clocked out.
- An animated opening with English narration and captions.
- Strict black-and-white pixel art, in landscape on iPhone, iPad and Android phones and tablets.
- Play by touch, gamepad or keyboard.
- Accessibility built in: screen reader support, narrated glyphs, text up to 150 %, a left-handed layout, tap-tap controls, reduced motion, flash reduction and a high-outline mode.
- 10 languages: English, Swedish, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean and Simplified Chinese. The narration is in English, with captions in every language.
- One purchase: no ads, no in-app purchases, no account. Works offline and collects no data.
Some art, music and the narration voice were made with the help of AI tools.
Ratings & Reviews

Version 1.1 makes the rooms easier to read and fixes how you walk out of them. The puzzles and their solutions are the same.
Clearer rooms
- A piece that blocks your way now looks like it: the long kitchen counter covers both of its squares, and the route preview stops at the piece in the way.
- Exits that are shut now look shut.
- A support that holds something up now shows what it holds, and the floor arrow next to it is no longer covered.
- The bridge plank lies across the gap, card slots stay on their rack when it turns, a lid looks like a lid, and a lamp is no longer hidden behind you.
- Smaller pieces are easier to tell apart: a window blind, a bench, an open door, a low door, wall plaques and a painted door.
- Door marks no longer look like written letters.
- Pieces in the tray show which way they are turned.
Leaving a room
- You walk out cleanly through the door. Nothing is left behind in the doorway, door frames are drawn in front of you or behind you as they should be, and your legs no longer cross walls or partitions.
- Anyone who follows you out keeps a distance instead of walking over you.
Other changes
- If the game was closed right after you finished the last room of a department, the scene you missed now plays the next time you start the game.
- Settings sits on a paper panel, with a mark that shows when there is more to scroll.
- About shows the version and build number, and its licence texts no longer break into short lines.
- How to play shows the new look of a doorway.
- On some tablets, a thin line at the right edge of the screen is gone.
