Pen & Verse: Scripture Writing

Write the Bible by hand

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

December's plan, The Promised King, starts December 1: one to three verses a day, with the angels' song from Luke 2 on Christmas Day. Write the Bible by hand, one verse at a time. Write in your own notebook or Bible journal, or right on the screen. Pen & Verse keeps your place. When you finish, tap the last verse you wrote, and your place moves forward. The verses before it are marked as written. Trace on the screen Open Trace on any chapter and write over the faint verse with your finger or a stylus. Pick the pen width and color, look back at your handwriting, and share it as an image or a PDF. Highlights and notes Drag a finger across the words that stay with you to highlight them, and keep a note or a prayer with the verse. Turn a highlight and its note into a card to share. Swipe to read Read one verse per screen and swipe up for the next. Pen & Verse remembers where you stopped. A plan for every month Each month has a short writing plan built around one theme, one to three verses a day. December is The Promised King. January and February follow, and new months are added about two weeks before they begin. Join on any day. Today's verses are on your home screen, and the days before, along with any day you miss, wait on your list in order until you write them. A habit that allows rest One verse a day keeps your streak going. You can rest one day in seven and keep it. Track every book Your home screen doubles as a Bible tracker. Every book of the Bible sits in one grid, marked in progress or finished, next to your streak, your verse count and how many verses are left to finish your next book. Copywork sheets Make a PDF with light letters to write over, in print or in cursive. Print it on Letter paper, or open it in a notes app on your tablet. You can also copy from the line above, or write from memory with only the first words shown and check yourself on the last page. Listen while you write The app reads the verses aloud with your device's own voice. Go verse by verse while you write, or listen straight through the chapter with a sleep timer. Your own Bible works too The text in the app is the King James Version (KJV) of 1769. The reference for each day is shown in large type, so you can write from the translation you already read and mark it here. No account There is nothing to sign up for, and there are no ads. Your progress, highlights, notes and handwriting are never sent to us. Free to start, one purchase after Your first monthly plan and the Gospel of John are free, with Trace, highlights and copywork sheets included. Every other plan, all 66 books and copywork sheets for every chapter open with one in-app purchase, paid once. No subscription.
