The app listen and analyze the sound in real time from the built-in mic, headset, guitar clip on or from any other external microphone. It is so accurate that it will be your best friend for guitar intonation!
Because Pro Guitar Tuner is chromatic you can tune most types of stringed instruments.
High-quality samples of real instruments are also accessible (i.e. tune by ear if preferred!). A massive library of different tunings for guitar, bass, balalaika, violin, ukulele and more makes it easy to find more qualities and characteristics from your instrument.
The interface:
To make it more intuitive, we give you information about the current pitch in many different ways:
*Cents for the current pitch
*A red/green light indicating the closest pitch
*A note wheel corresponding to the chromatic scale
*A fretboard with the current tuning setting displayed
Standard guitar is set as default but the guitar tuner can be used to tune many different instruments, such as:
*Guitars - Standard, 4-string, 5-string, 7-string, 8-string
, 9-string, 10-string, 11-string, 12-string, and 13-string guitar
*Bass guitars - Standard, 5-string bass and 6-string bass
*Ukuleles - std (Soprano), Pocket, Concert, Tenor, Baritone, Bass, and Contrabass
*Banjo - 4-string, 5-string, 6-string
*Mandolin family - Mandolin (Soprano), Piccolo, Mandola (alto), Octave Mandolin (tenor), Mandocello (Baritone), Mandobass, Irish Bouzouki, Cittern, and Greek Bouzouki
*Violin family - Violin, Viola, Cello (violoncello), Double bass and 5-string Double bass
*Balalaika family - Prima, Piccolo, Secunda, Alto, Tenor, Bass and Contrabass
After you have selected an instrument you choose a specific tuning. The app provides you with over 200 custom tunings.
The tuning options are divided into groups to make them easier to find. For guitar, the categories are:

*Raised tunings
*Lowered tunings
*Dropped tunings
*Double dropped tunings
*Major open tunings
*Minor open tunings (cross-note)
*Modal tunings
*Miscellaneous tunings
If you have certain tunings that you often use, you can save them as favorites. This gives you easy access to them under favorite tunings.

This is one of the nicer tuning apps available. Very accurate and easy to read. Some of the features should be unlocked without having to pay as I am weary of buying an app will not let you take advantage of at least a few features to judge its overall function. Recently including internal adds really takes away from the uniqueness and clean look of the tuner. Again this takes away from my willingness to purchase the app and the adds are uninteresting anyway. I do not pay attention to internal adds while tuning. Partners are not getting their moneys worth. Overall though, this is a nice looking and accurate tuning. Partners and developers need to be more creative in regard to internal adds and subscriptions.
There are tuners and then there are tuners

It’s interesting even in an app simulation of analogue tuning how close based on criteria presented can make even harmonics level.. I sweeten my tuning and the scale based meter makes for tuning James Taylor sweet easy. This is a fantastic app. If you are looking for tuning down to the cent… it will serve you well. If simple 440 is all you are looking for there are many that will accommodate that but why not just use one that can count 100cents right off? In the end an app like this is where you will land anyway. That said it’s a simple app.. and can (although it’s very close) replace an analogue harmonic rotary tuner in my opinion. But then again who has the money for a big expense of that… the math is sound. And so is this tuner.

I have been using a different app and it did not tell me if I needed to tune tighter or you know. I am kind of new to guitar and I broke the low e string string and had to restring. I was terrified that one of the strings was going to hit one of my eyes or my face so I was just putting off tuning. I found this app but I have one suggestion. You should add a way to like tap the string your tunning so it doesn’t think you are doing a different string than what you are. THANK YOU SO MUCH
Unreasonable ads…
Be subdued
I want to preface by saying: I understand a free app might have some ads, but this is excessive. I downloaded this with the hope of using it as a chromatic tuner, since my clip on tuner doesn’t have that option. In the free version, during 1 tuning session, I had to watch through 2 ads (one when I opened the app, and another after I tuned maybe 2 strings). Then there’s the flashing ads right in the middle of the screen that are conveniently located right where you might accidentally tap them. My tune never sounded quite perfect, so I clipped on my regular tuner and realized that E was almost a half step flat, and D was sharp. So not only is it frustrating to use, but it can’t even be accurate?? I’m not sure how this app ended up with such great reviews, maybe the older versions were better. But the 2026 version is horrific, and I used it 1 time before deleting.

Thank you for taking the time to write this out properly, it's useful, and we'd rather hear it than not.On the accuracy: a half step off is a much bigger gap than any tuning tolerance, so something specific went wrong there rather than the tuner being generally imprecise. We'd really like to know what, if you're willing, write to us at help@support.proguitar.com and tell us which mode you were using and what the screen showed. That's the kind of report that lets us actually find a problem.On the ads: when the app opens you can choose between the ad-free version and using it free with ads, and if you choose the free route the ad is shown before you start rather than during tuning, so it shouldn't interrupt a session. Ads are how the tuner stays free for everyone, but they shouldn't get between you and the strings.Your review also predates version 7.0, which brought a substantial overhaul of the audio handling and stability, with further fixes since in 7.0.2. If you ever feel like trying again, it's meaningfully different to the version you used.Thanks again for the detail, it's more helpful than a one-line complaint ever is.
Screen stays on while you tune
- Fixed an issue where the screen could dim or lock while tuning. It now stays awake until you're done.
