Hide files and folders on your Mac, and find them again in one organized place. Privacy Box keeps photos, videos and documents out of everyday Finder view while keeping them convenient to manage.
HIDE FILES WHERE THEY ARE
Drag files or folders into Privacy Box to hide them in their original locations. Find your managed items in the app and restore their visibility whenever you need them.
SHOW THEM TEMPORARILY
Make a hidden file visible for a set period, then have Privacy Box hide it again. While the app is running, temporary display takes care of returning the file to its hidden state.
STORE FILES INSIDE PRIVACY BOX WITH PRO
Move individual files into the app's local storage. Privacy Box verifies the copy before moving the original to Trash, so successfully stored files no longer depend on their original folder. Export a copy whenever needed. Storing folders inside the app is not currently supported.
KEEP YOUR COLLECTION ORGANIZED
Use custom groups, favorites, notes and search to find what you need. Filter by file type and switch between list and grid views. Preview supported photos and documents without leaving the app.
CHOOSE HOW YOU OPEN THE APP
Use an app password, Touch ID on supported Macs, and automatic locking to control access to the management interface.
BACK UP AND MANAGE YOUR FILES
Create a complete backup of stored file contents and management records. Files kept in their original locations are not copied into that backup. When removing an original-location item from the list, choose whether to restore its visibility and keep it, or move the actual file to Trash.

Choose Pine Green, Ocean Blue, Warm Clay or Dark Mode. English and Simplified Chinese are supported, with a language switch in Settings.

The free version manages up to 10 files or folders, includes one custom group, and runs one temporary display at a time. Privacy Box Pro is an optional one-time in-app purchase that removes these limits and enables storage inside the app. No subscription is required.
ABOUT HIDING AND STORAGE
Neither hiding nor storing files encrypts their contents. The app password protects the management interface, not the files themselves. Hidden files may still be accessible through Finder's hidden-file view, Terminal or other apps.
Temporary display timers require Privacy Box to be running. If you quit the app, expired tasks are checked when you reopen it. Keep backups of stored files and export them before deleting the app's data.
