I just want to say shoutout to the devs. I made a review a long time ago about some features I felt they were missing and how the UI wasn’t very friendly. Since then they’ve rolled out multiple updates that have literally fixed everything I mentioned. I don’t know if they are actively checking reviews for improvements, but the devs on this team are killer and I’m super happy with the changes they’ve made from a customer standpoint. Thanks guys!!
Like all Miller Companies….

Megaplex has straight up taken a nosedive. Movie tickets have doubled in price. They redid all their theaters with a wood laminate floor which wildly reflect the step lights. Not only does this make the dark theater much brighter, there is now a bright shiny thing in the corner of my eye. Concessions have basically tripled in price. The annual mega tub tag is expensive enough that it really should cover the cost of popcorn for the year. Rewards are garbage. I go to the movies at least once per month, includes wife and kids. I used to earn several free tickets throughout the year with how many visits and concessions with each visit. I haven’t earned a single free ticket through rewards all year and it’s now December. On top of that, a couple thousand points expire each month. I’m still over 10,000 points from a free ticket after a year of moviegoing, and I don’t use my reward points for anything other than trying to work toward a free ticket. The new subscription plan is trash and doesn’t cover all screenings in each theater, yet they are happy to charge me the same cost for a showing in one of the smaller theaters with worse picture and sound. I have had a subscription through Atom for years, and Megaplex is forcing those subscribers out in the not too distant future to force a move to their in-house plan which is way worse. I’ve debated cancelling my atom subscription for some time now anyway due to the fact that movies just aren’t great anymore and it’s a bit of a chore to figure out what to see each month. I’ve kept it because it’s still fun to go with the family. I’m cancelling after this month. The increasing cost of going to the movies, even with a subscription that’s supposed to cover the movies for each month simply isn’t worth it anymore. Home theater is where it’s at.
New layout is not user friendly

There are some great things that have came from the update, but it doesn’t make up for the hard user interface. Before you can select your theaters and the movies playing soon would be there when you open the app. They would tell you in how many minutes or hours the movie will start. This made it easier for when I had a last minute desire to watch a movie. The coming soon tab is not ordered by date anymore. I don’t want movies that come out in December before the movies that come out thoseMonth. It is frustrating because I don’t get to see if there are any cool new movies coming out soon that I haven’t hear about. There should be a sorting option where you can choose if you wanted listed by date or by popularity. The old app had the tab where you can see the movies playing the day of at the theaters you’ve selected. It would show the movies playing and what time they were playing at each theater without having to click on a movie. Now I have to click on the movie to see the showtimes. I would sometimes like to watch a random movie if it fit in my schedule that day. Now I have to click through each movie which is a hassle. And they still have a movie listed even if there’s no showtimes left in the day. Overall, this new app was not designed for those who love movies. It seems like it was designed for those who just want to go see the most talked about movies. That is disappointing
New app version is trash

I’ve been a Megaplex lady for a long time but lately I’ve become severely disillusioned. The app won’t sign me in despite the correct info and the new Megapass program is less than useful. It should let you get any movie type on the app without a service fee. But no. Only if you use mega pass tickets. Cinemark has better vision for their pass program. The new app is terrible. The whole user experience is clunky and disappointing. I didn’t realize that I was already signed up for the program (7 tickets expiring in 12 days kind of didn’t know) and I signed up again hoping to buy $5 Tuesday tickets without the service fee. No such luck with the service fee but they were more than happy to sign me up again with a second megapass account. Overall just great disappointment. Megaplex had the potential and went with their nephew on the app design. Fail. The website isn’t much better. Whichever company did your rebrand way overcharged. They messed up big time.
