Now ready for iPhone Duo. Map one knob to up to 8 MIDI destinations and play them all with a single turn.
Knob Lab turns your iPhone or iPad into a MIDI controller built around one idea: a single knob can do many things at once.
ONE KNOB. MANY MOVES.
Map a knob to up to 8 MIDI destinations. Each has its own range, direction, channel and color, so one turn can open a filter, pull the resonance back and bring the delay in over the second half of the sweep.
BUILD YOUR OWN MACROS
• Control Change, Program Change and Pitch Bend destinations
• Name every knob and every destination, so a setup reads at a glance
• Invert any range, or start a destination part-way through the turn
• Rotate completely, snap to middle, pan left/right, or return to origin on release
• A colored lane for every destination shows where each one is
A LAYOUT FOR EVERY SETUP
Start with one big knob, or unlock layouts with 2, 6 or 12 knobs on a single screen.
PLAYS WITH EVERYTHING
• Music apps on the same device, through Knob Lab's virtual MIDI output
• Computers over Wi-Fi, with a network MIDI session
• A Mac over USB or Bluetooth, with Sonic Logic Central
• Class-compliant USB MIDI interfaces and synths plugged into your iPhone or iPad
MADE FOR TOUCH
Large, precise knobs, a quick guided start, Dark, Light and Neon themes, and full support for iPhone Duo in portrait and landscape.
The one-knob layout is free. The 2, 6 and 12 knob layouts are in-app purchases, available one at a time or all together.
Firstly, I’ll explain why I gave this app four stars and what can be done to turn it into five stars: Add support for aftertouch and program changes! I use both of those frequently in my setup, so I would love to see them added as controllable knobs. Now for the main review. My MIDI keyboard only has one wheel and one slider for CC control, so I was looking for a cheap method to control more CC parameters without using my PC mouse in my DAW (which is too tedious for my liking). Then I had the idea to try looking for an app that could do that! I browsed through several paid apps until I found this free one that seemed to do exactly what I needed. Sure enough, it does, and it works really well!
Please add pitch bends.

Cool, but no way to add pitch bends. Hesitant to purchase Sonic Labs.
Absolutely fantastic

I connect it through Apple’s Audio Midi Setup and in Studio One and Pro Tools have it running Metric AB’s A/B switcher. Just have it sitting on a stand facing me and always on and push the knob when I want to switch to a different reference. Please add buttons and I’ll buy those too!
Works Great but I Need More

Let me start by saying that this is the best BY FAR of any midi app I've tried. It starts free and demos great which they ALL should, since I'm not buying until I know it works. The Bluetooth actually works, you select midi and the knives click right in. HOWEVER, I need an XY pad, a keyboard and a grid controller plus transport. Add those in PLEASE. There are so many other clunkers out there.
• iPhone Duo support: Knob Lab uses the full outer and inner displays, and keeps its knobs clear of the fold when iPhone Duo is partly folded.
• Landscape on iPhone.
• Clearer messages when a purchase or restore doesn't go through, and a thank-you when it does.
• Bug fixes.
