Before I was using the Google translate app to read text for me when I need to hear how something sounds, but it only do small pieces of text and the voice is very robotic. This app is much more better for longer text because the voices sound more like real person talking. I paste a whole email and it read it back to me which is nice. One thing though, some buttons are a bit small on my phone and I need to tap two times sometimes.. also when I switch between the pages it flash white for a second which is a little anoying. But overall it does what I need, I use it mostly for checking my english pronunciation before sending voice messages to colleagues.

I usually don’t like these types of apps, because on some the voices are overwhelmingly robotic. However, this one I can change the voice, the pitch, and even the speed and I really like that. It’s a big help when it comes to writing, it helps me pinpoint what I need to change and I can fix it quickly.

While it did have all the voices to choose from unlocked and it allowed me to create something and download it (which is why I didn’t give it only 1-star), you only get 5-tries, so if you mess up, they count towards your 5 (I accidentally clicked on an arrow button and it counted as 1 of the 5). Also, just like most of the other txt2voice Apps like this one, the playback sounds Robotic and unnatural. And it seemed to limit the number of characters it would allow?Anyways, it wasn’t the worst app I’ve tried but not good enough to entice me to want to pay for it.

Using this app will cost you $40 a year, which may not seem like a lot, but it is expensive when compared to the free options available (some of what you are paying for is the use of “celebrity” voices). I find the built-in Apple text to speech voices to be pretty good these days, so this is a waste of money. Also, on the free version, at least, it does not seem to continue to read when the screen is turned off. Finally, the sample texts in their screenshots in the App Store are unnecessarily politically charged and offensive.
