Set a timer. Choose what happens when time is up. Timer is a powerful time tool for Mac that lets you create precise countdowns, alarms, and stopwatches — then decide what happens next. Play a sound, show or speak a message, open an app or document, launch a web page, send an HTTP request, or simply receive a notification. Accurate measurement When precision matters, Timer keeps track of every second. The stopwatch measures time down to hundredths of a second and supports lap times. Timers can repeat automatically, making them useful for study sessions, workouts, presentations, recurring tasks, and experiments. Both timers and stopwatch remain accurate even if your Mac’s system clock changes because of time zones, daylight saving time, or manual adjustments. Adjust while running Change the duration of a running timer without stopping it. Add or subtract seconds, minutes, or hours at any time. Need more time? Add seconds, minutes, or hours. Want the timer to end sooner? Reduce the remaining time. Choose what happens next At the end of a timer or alarm, you decide what Timer should do. Play music, display or speak a message, announce the current time, open apps or documents, launch web pages, send an HTTP request, or show a notification. Adjust sound volume, repeat alerts multiple times, or let Timer choose a different sound each time. If an action cannot be executed, Timer uses a built-in safety fallback so you still receive a clear alert. Start quickly Start a timer with a single click from the favorites, suggested, and recent menu. Choose ready-made intervals such as 1, 5, or 10 minutes, reuse recent intervals, or save your own favorites for instant access. You can also start, pause, and stop timers using Spotlight and Shortcuts with Timer Pro commands. Keep a history Timer’s logging system records the current state whenever you need it, with clear formatting and support for your Mac’s language. Your timer presets can also sync across Macs using iCloud Drive, while live countdowns remain on the Mac running them. Timer settings now sync via iCloud Drive, keeping your presets in sync across Macs while live countdowns remain on the Mac running them. You can also start, pause, and stop timers with Spotlight and Shortcuts using “Timer Pro” commands. Updates are now smoother and more efficient while timers and the clock are running, with improved reliability for documents, pause/resume, and App Store purchases and restore.
