• LAYOUT
• One standard 52-card deck is used.
• There are four open cells and four open foundations. Some alternate rules use between one to ten cells.
• Cards are dealt into eight cascades, four of which comprise seven cards and four of which comprise six. Some alternate rules will use between four to ten cascades.
• PLAY
• The top card of each cascade begins a tableau.
• Tableaux must be built down by alternating colors.
• Foundations are built up by suit.
• MOVES
• Any cell card or top card of any cascade may be moved to build on a tableau, or moved to an empty cell, an empty cascade, or its foundation.
• Complete or partial tableaus may be moved to build on existing tableaus, or moved to empty cascades, by recursively placing and removing cards through intermediate locations. While computer implementations often show this motion, players using physical decks typically move the tableau at once.

Do not buy: crashes on exit

App looks nice, but has some fundamental flaws with how the cards unstack. If you have auto-unstack turned on, it will unstack cards even when there are lower cards that could be played on it, limiting future plays. Tried to contact the developer about the crash bug, and get a dead email. Not recommended.

The product I purchased will not execute to the end. It stops with the message unexpected error has caused the program to cease. I have file error reports but I hvae heard nothing. This is the first product that I have purchased through the Apple Store that has failed to properly execute.Bill Gittins

It did not play at all like Freecell on a PC or the Freecell on my I-pad. It made auto moves when it should not have. Turned off Auto moves then could not place 2 of clubs on ace of clubs. This game allowed me to move multiple cards, when I should not have been able to, not the required number of card spaces, etc. Could not turn off the sound, when it was selected, it was an annoying sound. The cards moved slowly and did not responded quickly to placement. It was to large a program download, for the size it should have worked much better
It looks good and works well

Windows built-in application Solitaire is one of my favorite card game. Happy now I have FreeCell Solitaire on my Mac. It might seem simplistic when compared with other games, but I have found it very easy to use, and the app takes up very little space. It looks good and works well, but it isn't something you'd play over and over again unless you didn't have any other games to play. If you really love solitaire or just need something to distract you for a bit, this app is good for you.
- Bug fixed to make the game work in the newest version of macOS
