Great game! The characters are adorable and so far it has a great economy that includes a plethora of fun ways to increase your coins without having to watch advertisements. Also it’s just a great pastime and a wonderful challenge! I’ve read a lot of reviews saying that the puzzles are not solvable past certain levels unless you spend money for extra moves. This is not true. I just passed level 100 within 48 hours of having the game and thus far, there have been no issues and I have not had to spend a dime. (If this opinion changes as I further progress in the game, I will let you know) Also, the game even has a free way of getting extra moves through achieving a win streak which, once you finish at least 2 levels in a row, makes a big difference.However, I do agree with the critics who say that the game does often make you fail a level several times before giving you a passable board. I have seen several instances to where if I were to have one more move to use, the puzzle would be solved. This tactic makes it very tempting to buy gold because who wants to replay the level if victory is just one move away? Another subtlety I’ve noticed is this: say you have a challenge that requires you to complete four levels in a row. You might think, that’s impossible! I’ve never done that! But I’ve noticed that for these challenges the game will give you easier boards so you keep playing. You don’t need to spend money, just recognize that you won’t get it on the first try. It’s what makes the game a challenge. So my only critique of the game is blatant sabotage for monetary reasons. Overall, the best and most addictive game I’ve ever played.

Decent game but dirty tactics

I’ve enjoyed this game for the most part. Over time it’s become abundantly clear that there is some programming in the game that prevents you from winning at certain times. Once you get past level 1,000 it’ll take dozens of tries on a level to beat it. Then out of nowhere everything will line up perfectly and you’ll breeze through. This isn’t just random because each new level will then again take hours to beat and then magically you’ll get it to all line up perfectly. I get the app has to make money but you kind of feel cheated because you realize that there is no possible way to beat that level other than playing it over and over until you get the “easier” layout. It is a fun game and definitely worth playing for a bit but I am frustrated that it’s not skill or strategy that gets you past levels in this game, it’s money and time. I have a also noticed on many, many occasions that you will be extremely close to beating the level with 5+ moves left. All of a sudden the board goes dry. There are no colors or matches you need. Then you use your last turn and all of a sudden that play you were trying to attain for several turns magically shows up but now you have to pay 10 gold to continue. This isn’t random. It happens too frequently to be random. I think the game is programmed to do this and it’s sad that they use this to try to trick people into spending more money.

After a long day of studying, I found myself decompressing with my favorite mobile game, best fiends. I am on a win streak yet when I approach level 115, I have unfortunately failed to pass the level. As I am intending to press the give up button, which might I mention has an “are you sure” feature, I find myself accidentally pressing the continue button. I have never used my gold bars and I have intended to save them for when I reach the more difficult levels. When I realize what I have done, my heart is overcome with sorrow. I am devastated at what I have just done. I find myself entering the first stage of grief, denial. I quickly exit the app in an attempt to prevent my unavoidable fate yet when I log back into the app, I find my self 10 gold bars poorer. In my disbelief, I frantically try to fix what I have just done. What have I done? My denial turns to sadness and then to anger. Why is there no feature to confirm the continuation of the game? Perhaps such a big commitment should be questioned. As all best fiends enthusiasts know, gold bars are not easy to come by. I have just depleted over one quarter of my gold bar reserve. I am devastated. I have now come to know what true grief looks like. I am completely and utterly broken inside. I can not move. Perhaps I never will again. Best fiends, please consider resolving this deeply disappointing issue and adding in an “are you sure feature” regarding usage of gold bars. Thank for your time. Best Fiends Enthusiast,Nya Brown

This covers most of the gold usage cases in the game with the exception of the Fiend Styles bought via the Fiendex (Fiend Menu).
