So far I am liking the simplicity of the program. I am still navigating through the program and getting the hang of things but I am working through it. I like this one more than any of the others I have found so far. This one does make selecting length and width of the home and the finishes you want more easily. I would like to have had some tutorial or maybe some pop ups the first time you use a new tool. Or to have some lables that when you hover over the tool it will tell you what tool it is. There have been several times I want to do something but not sure how to accomplish it by using what I see here. I figure I can just need to keep playing with it.

I recently purchased a new Macbook and found that my older Home Design software will not work with the new OS. The House Builder app looked very promising so I downloaded it and started using it right away. It seemed okay at first so I went right ahead and purchased it. That was a mistake.I have owned it for less than four hours and have already had it crash on me and then freeze up to where I had to restart. The app doesn't allow for you to change the swing of a door. The door angle dropdown is grayed out. There is no way to set a default door size, so you have to enter feet and inches on every door you insert. The prefrences link is also grayed out.I am very unhappy that I purchased this program. It really looks like it could be a great program, but lacks basic functions and has too many glitches.

Only used the free, lite version yet but it looks seriously promising plus, a great thing is that it's a fixed price rather than subscription. Wish there were options for pavement outside, road surfaces and textures too, so that one can get a better sense for the buildings etc. Then again, maybe they have that but I've not seen it. Plus, that's a feature that not many of these types of apps have to begin with. Overall, it feels promising and this may be the app I go for.

I am using the paid version – The last update was two years prior to the writing of this review, which tells me the developer, Scott Meyers, has abandoned it. That's truly a shame, because with a few updates it would really be a killer program! It's quite glitchy; it won't save "holes", it won't save vertical placement on some items like a few of my windows, the floors disappear sometimes, etc. And there are a few functionalities that are missing or behave oddly such as the light-on check box (which is SO cool, btw) isn't adjustable so the lights are WAY too bright, but it's usable for an older program. I quite enjoy it and find it worth the money still.
