The new features that you can find in this release include the ability to transfer zip files of stardict dictionaries for installation between your PC and iPhone/iPad devices with iTunes, the ability to support compressed dictionary index files, the ability to display photos found in res directory of each dictionary and the ability to tap a word and display its meanings in a popover view.

We have updated the UX design to create a consistent and seamless experience across different mobile device groups and removed all the less effective functionality to focus on the improvement of the core features. Typically, we have already optimized the dictionary manager to improve the ability to download and install new stardict dictionaries. Besides, the vocabulary manager has been also updated to save and manage all types of vocabularies including favorite, recent and important words (IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC). In this release, a new feature called Pop-up Definitions Window has been added. When you tap a word in definition viewer, a pop-up will be displayed for quick lookup and references.

Version 1.8 - Optimized the search algorithm to improve the performance of the dictionary searches. - Added Spotlight support to make DictSharp English Dictionary available in Spotlight search. - Added the ability that allows users to delete their own dictionary files. - Added the ability that enables users to install their own audio files and use those audio files for English pronunciation. - Fixed many bugs regarding the user and search experience.

Version 1.7 - Added new feature of the *Camera Search* that allows users to capture an image and then select words recognized for lookup - Added new feature of the *Custom Dictionary Installation* that allows users to be able to install their own StarDict dictionaries thru iCloud or other document providers available on their iPhone, iPad or iOS devices - Fixed bugs found in the previous versions DictSharp Dictionary is able to read the StarDict format dictionary files. A StarDict dictionary comprises at least three files: .ifo, .idx and .dict.dz. You can modify .ifo file with a text editor to rename your dictionary title. To install a StarDict dictionary, firstly you need to copy three StarDict files (.ifo, .idx, .dict.dz) from a StarDict dictionary into a specified directory and then zip that directory into a single .zip file. It's worth noting that the name of your dictionay files and the directory that contains these files should contain no spaces or special characters but you replace spaces with hyphens or underscores instead. Also, keep your filenames to a reasonable length and be sure they are under 22 characters. Secondly, upload the .zip file to your iCloud or Google Drive or Dropbox. Finally, from the DictSharp Dictionary select Settings/Manage Dictionaries and then tap the ( + ) button on the navigation bar. You will be guided thru steps to open your .zip file from your documents. After the installation is complete, you can use your newly added dictionary.

Version 1.6 - Added two new buttons "Back" and "Forward" to the dictionary definition browser, in order to allow users to be able to navigate recently visited words back and forward. DictSharp English Dictionary always remembers all the words that have been recently viewed into the historical bookmarks, also known as Recents. By adding the "Back" and "Forward" buttons to the definition browser, DictSharp English Dictionary provides the ability to allow users to be able to go back and forth along the words that have already looked up directly in the dictionary definition browser instead. With this new functionality, the users can go back, and then go forward to review the recently viewed words quickly and more conveniently in the dictionary definition browser without jumping to the Recents. - Updated dictionary databases to improve word entries and their meanings and make the font color for each word glossary more consistent. - Fixed the issue with the font size adjustment in the dictionary definition browser. - Removed the less commonly used dictionaries to reduce the app size. - Fixed minor bugs in the previous versions.
