I downloaded the app yesterday after reading a story on Facebook by CTGN. The first thing that made me wonder did I download an ad blocker on my phone? No. Who sponsored this so that it was ad free? I guess the Chinese Govt. If that is what they do, and I get to read various news stories without ads ever, I LOVE it! I can not even begin to tell you how many stories I just stop reading because hundreds of ads, accidentally clicking on them and getting frustrated because I can not get back to the story. I am so over being bombarded by ads of products I would never buy. Thanks for a clean news source. Is their anyway to add weather to it? I would never have to go anyplace else. I am in the USA so it would be great. Thanks again.Just to be clear no fees? No monthly sub? And no ads? Where has this kind of news been?
Great app for several reasons

1. A good balance. We are inundated with negative news about China from western sources. It’s great to hear positive news about China from the source.2. A great app. This app is really well built and just very user friendly and very aesthetically pleasing.3. No ads. 4. Not intentional, but great for language learning. If you’re learning French, Spanish, Russian, or Arabic, you can change the settings in your account to get the news in those languages. Most of the news articles have video and audio along with the text. There is also a translation feature directly at the tool bar to quickly see the article in your native language or many more target languages.

Nice app, pleasing to view. Lots of news groups have these things, why use this one? Living in the USA I find myself more and more disdainful of the inept, highly opinionated and barefaced biases found on all the major (and lesser!) news sources here and western countries in general. They all have pretty apps too. I’m still in the first few days of trying this CGTN, hoping to find less opinions and just the facts. I can form my own opinions. So far it’s going ok. The opinion articles are clearly labeled as such in the headline. The live TV feature works well. So far my personal jury is still out as to whether or not CGTN will deliver the news in the manner I’m seeking but I’m giving them a good try and hoping for the best. Best of luck to them and thanks for their hard work.Update after using a while...Seeing many of the usual biases on USA reports. They parrot U.S. msm sources. Noticed the last story read was actually an AP story. I must assume the reports on China are similarly slanted. Deleted from device.
A Good Alternative for Western Viewers

I love that this news source is entirely free and ad free! If you’re reading this, you have to recognize that this is essentially the propaganda arm of the CPC. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It allows for some alternative views that run against the western current. Personally, I’d recommend consuming some western media with it so you don’t become insanely one sided. It’s very important to keep a balanced view of the world. I like the app overall. It’s good because you know what it is, an anti-western perspective that is pro Chinese. It’s really no different than western propaganda like CNN or Fox News, it just has a different bias, which is important too.
