ReaderView changes in 8.8.35: - Article images now use the same margins as the main article instead of being widened with negative margins. - ReaderView image loading is more reliable offline and for srcset image URLs. - AI voice playing keeps the iOS display awake while reading so playback can continue. - TTS no longer reads long visible URLs aloud; it speaks concise hostnames like "github dot com". - PDF handling is more reliable when preprocessing detects a PDF.

This update improves PDF articles, sharing, and text-to-speech reliability. PDF images now load more reliably in the reader, including PDFs opened from Safari through the app extension. PDF article images are sharper, with higher-resolution preview rendering. Sharing a PDF article with “Link + Text” now preserves images in email by embedding them directly in the shared HTML. “Link + Text” now shows a spinner while the share content is being prepared. Plain “Link” sharing is faster and opens immediately. Fixed an issue where shared email content could be missing when preparing article text asynchronously. AI voices can now play at different speeds without changing the pitch. Improved AI voices playback behavior, including native playback support so audio can continue even when the phone is set to Silent. Adjusted PDF reader display so duplicate PDF titles are no longer shown at the top of the article.

This update improves ReaderView support for X articles (thanks to @kepano from Obsidian for the tip), including better extraction of long-form articles, cleaner formatting, and improved image handling. It also fixes article images that could appear broken in ReaderView, improves text-to-speech reliability on X articles and other web pages, and makes TTS sound more natural around quoted text. This update also includes compatibility improvements for iOS 16+, fixes several deprecated API warnings.

ReaderView 8.8.29 improves the ReaderView PRO experience. This update fixes cases where ReaderView PRO could appear restored in Settings while some articles still showed the “Upgrade to PRO” message. It also improves purchase restoration handling and keeps support for users who bought ReaderView before the switch to in-app purchases. The upgrade message inside articles now also respects dark mode, so it no longer appears as a bright white card while reading with a dark theme.

ReaderView 8.8.28 improves article extraction, reading layout, and reliability. New and improved: • Better extraction for shared ChatGPT conversations (thanks Aharon!) • Added support for shared Gemini conversations. • Improved BBC article extraction and removed more ad/layout clutter. • Cleaner article layout with softer table styling and fewer oversized gaps around paragraphs. • More reliable recovery when reopening the share extension after the iPhone locks or the screen turns off. Also fixed: • Reopening an article from Safari now restores it from Trash automatically. • Text-to-speech skips noisy YouTube timestamps and uses clearer localized placeholders for tables, images, and code blocks.
