HEALTHY EDGE MOBILE Provides you with the ability to view and track your weight and body fat / body composition data from your Tanita wireless scale using Bluetooth Low Energy or WiFi (when used with the Tanita WiFi Network Adapter). You can also record measurements from your Bluetooth equipped Tanita activity monitor.
Monitoring the changes that take place within your body is the best way to determine the effectiveness of your diet and exercise activities. Weight alone is a poor indicator of health and fitness. Analyzing your body composition is the best solution. Knowing how much of your weight is body fat, muscle mass, water, and/or bone is the secret to reaching your goals.
When used with a wireless Tanita scale and Bluetooth Low Energy (such as the the RD-901) or WiFi (such as the BC-1500, BC-1000 or BF-2000 with the Tanita WiFi Network Adapter), Healthy Edge Mobile records body composition results – weight, body fat%, body water%, muscle mass, bone mass, daily caloric intake, metabolic age, visceral fat, and physique rating. Your data is wirelessly transmitted via Bluetooth or WiFi to your Apple product.
Healthy Edge Mobile can also communicate with your Bluetooth Low Energy activity monitor (such as the AM-160), allowing you to see your steps and calories burned throughout the day.
• Monitor Your Fitness Results

Finally, you can be confident in the security and accuracy of the data. The results from your Tanita scale are encrypted before being uploaded by the Healthy Edge Mobile application. All Tanita body composition products are FDA cleared.
App glitchy and no usable info for it’s touted features
Night on the Plains
I live in the Garmin app world, and I am familiar with performance oriented software. I’ve had this scale and app for about three weeks now, and while this app is more fun than just getting weight, if the performance of the app is anything like the performance of the scale, then don’t pay attention to any of it. I like to see the muscle quality increasing and I assume that’s good, but there’s no explanation for what this is about in the app, or how these readings are done, or what you should look for. You have to go out of the app and Google what Tanita readings mean, and Google takes you back to Tanitas information that is just not helpful and that is inconsistent. According to Google’s information on Tanita’s readings, I have an extremely high muscle quality but the app says average (next to that really high number) and I try to figure out what it’s doing and it apparently merges two numbers together but it doesn’t really tell you how or how it can get to an end result of average. Then the app glitches so that you can’t pull up prior measurements. It will highlight but not open and there’s no way to get it open even if you exit and go back in.So get this if you just like having fun with these things, but don’t think that this is a really sophisticated piece of equipment — the app is the giveaway.

This app takes the data from the scale/body monitor and transfers it to this app. Then you can transfer the data to the Apple Health app. There are a several issues. The data number for physique is missing and should be shown. In the graphs it is necessary to scroll through blank pages for a segmentation monitor since the monitor that l own does not do segmented calculations. The app knows my product model so it should not make me go through those pages. The Apple Health app only displays four measurements but the monitor takes eleven. I would like all 11 to be shown in Apple Health. Tanita makes some very good and powerful software using monitor data to create a health dashboard. This software should be completely rewritten to show health analysis of the data.
Go with My Tanita instead

This is a very poorly designed app. I have an RD-545 Inerscan sale that I purchased because of its high degree of accuracy as a consumer scale. However, for a clientele that is attempting to track health metrics, this support app is almost unusable. It took forever to get it to synch with the Health app on my iPhone. It is difficult to trend the results and the graphs they provide are difficult to read. I noticed that in addition to this app, there is another Tanita support app call My Tanita in the App Store with good reviews. I wrote to Tanita US asking if that would work OK and a one line response that the US product users need to use Healthy Edge Mobile. That is nonsense! I have now used both this Healthy Edge and the My Tanita app. The My Tanita app is vastly superior. I suggest that Tanita corporate seriously review their US representation before their brand is damaged. Again, the My Tanita works great and I am now very happy with the scale but forget about Healthy Edge Mobile.
The Good & The Bad

Their hardware (Tanita Body Composition Scales) are really great products and I have zero complaints with them. I owned an older Tanita model which worked well but later upgraded to their RD-901 scale simply because of its Bluetooth feature and the connectivity to the Apple Health app. The amount of data the scale captures is impressive!Their software (Healthy Edge Mobile) however is truly a piece of junk that seems to me to be “abandonware”. It was about (8) years ago they made a small improvement to their Healthy Edge Mobile. No other improvements have been made and the last update was over (4) years ago and that was only because their app stopped working with the Apple Health app.I love how well their Healthy Edge Mobile app integrates with the Apple Health app and this integration provides a solid solution indeed! However their Healthy Edge Mobile app has almost zero value without the integration with Apple Health. Unfortunately that integration has stopped working (AGAIN). I alerted Tanita’s tech support about a month ago and thus far, there is no word on when (or even IF) they are going to fix their Healthy Edge Mobile app.I hate to say it but if they are not going to fix their app, I will cease being a customer of Tanita.
Fixes Health App connectivity.
