Dont Lose Heart
Excellence demands recognition so I am posting my very first app comment ever. On two separate occasions I have contacted Nektony regarding Duplicate File Finder Pro. The first was to report a bug while the second was to request a new feature. I received a near-immediate, personally-composed response to each contact from Yuriy (the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer - I looked him up). That in itself is astounding in an age of chatbots and automated canned/useless responses. Even more impressive is that both the bug fix and the feature request were implemented in the very next release of their app! Not only did they satisfy my requests but exceeded them, engineering the solutions to deliver even more enhanced functionality than I’d requested. This is a development team that cares about their product and their customers’ needs. They update Duplicate File Finder Pro frequently and are constantly refining its capabilities, which are comprehensive and extensive. If you customarily download and use only free apps (like I do), I can wholeheartedly recommend upgrading to the Pro version as a worthy and deserving exception. For a reasonable one-time price (it’s awesome they offer a non-subscription option) you will be getting an app that almost surely meets all your needs for managing duplicate files. You will also be supporting software developers who are working conscientiously, even during a time of war in their country, to deliver a truly exceptional product in a truly exceptional way.

Outstanding performance and ability to control

Unlike less-useful products (Gemini being a great example), this product allows great options in determining how duplicates are selected. Options include path, path-length, file name, file-name length, search for dupe indicators (such as -1 or "copy" in the file name) and allows you to select with ease. Also, unlike Gemini, this product doesn't try to think for you... which also means that it doesn't fail in that effort like Gemini so routinely does. I'm done with Cocoatech and Gemini. This product is my new (and only) duplicate file tool

Very easy to use, does not go just by just the file name, which is really important for me. It is FUN to use. I am getting dug out of the mess I have made on my external drive. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. If you have thousands of files, this app will help get it under control. I wish I had found this years ago. And no, I do not know the author - promise. Wish I did- he is one smart dude for figuring out what people really need in a duplicate finder. Oh and the manual is amazing.. lots of detail and example screens.Have been using this app for YEARS and still love it. Strong recommendation.
