I have been spinning (and running) with CardioCast since way back in 2017 when it was simply known as CycleCast; I stumbled across a used spin bike for $60 on Craigslist, needed something to get me moving on it, and I’ve never looked back. 7 years later it is a rare week when I don’t do at least one if not 3-4+ workouts just with this app. I have my favorite coaches for sure, but I enjoy pretty universally their style, great music, and motivation. I once read someone complain that the classes weren’t hard enough, but I guess if you feel that way, maybe you should up your resistance. I will also say, I appreciate the motivation while not being over the top. I have access to Peleton since they bought out the Mirror (my other favorite workout app) and I’ve got to tell you, Peleton has NOTHING on these folks. Thank you CardioCast for being here!If I had one ounce of feedback to give CardioCast - more new classes! It seems as though the pace of new material seems to have slowed dramatically the last few months. As someone who has done all of the classes in several of the categories, I will just keep putting in a plug for more:-)
The okayest cycling workout…
H. Mess
It’s okay. I mean it’s better than nothing. I love spin class but the pandemic ruined the availability of live classes near me. I like the workouts better than the Peleton ones at least. But they still aren’t very original or dynamic. Just very…repetitive… It’s been a couple years since I tried this app and while some things have improved, I feel the workouts are even less creative. The thing about this app that bums me out the most is that you can’t rewind or fast forward. If you get interrupted mid workout and you don’t hit pause, the workout continues without you and you can’t go back. Also, when the gym wifi cut out the other day, my workout stalled and I couldn’t get it going. When things got rolling again, the app restored the workout but set it all the way back to the beginning… It’s been super glitchy for me in general tbh. Also, I don’t at all appreciate the workout time estimates. If they say it’s a 45 minute workout, you spend 5 or more minutes listening to the trainer introduce themself and then there’s another 5 minutes of “warmup”. Then the workout ends at the 40 minute mark and the music just plays out after the trainer tells you to stretch at some point. So in reality it’s just a 30 minute workout. The time estimates should be for the actual workout. If the warmups and cool downs aren’t instructional at all, then why not just do them on your own and use the audio for the actual workout?? I dunno… I guess I will keep looking. And oh yeah, it offered me a free 7 day trial and then charged me immediately with no actual trial. Not stoked.
Should be called “CardioFantastic”
NurseBeek
Listen, I hate cardio. With a passion. I do not run. If I’m running, it’s because something’s chasing me or to prevent my kids from whatever mischievous tricks they are thinking. But this app, has completely changed the game. My first time using it was for the walk/jog and I actually smiled while running 🤯! These coaches are the best. They know exactly when to push you and most importantly, how to push you. It is completely audible. There is no visual part of this other than where you are exercising. Which I honestly think is a huge benefit. We stare at screens all day long. This app, while exercising, gives us that break and in my opinion, really helps you tune in to your body more. You’re able to focus on the cues the instructors are giving you to really push yourself; which in return, provides a greater outcome of a workout. I highly recommend this app. Whether you’re a pro or beginner, it’s amazing. It’s a good break to just be with yourself, focusing on yourself, for both your mental and physical well-being. Thank you CardioCast!
Developer Response
Thank you @NurseBeek for this fantastic review and we're so glad that you're enjoying working out with us and even enjoying running!! This is exactly the experience our founder had; he used to *hate* running, but CardioCast coaching and music was a game changer. And we couldn't agree more about taking a screen break, especially these days. Keep on rocking and thanks for being a member of the CardioCrew!
Just as Good (If Not Better!) Than My Favorite Spin Studio
A. Gunderson
I fell in love with spin around this time a couple of years ago - mostly because a new studio opened near me and the vibe, rides, music and lights were all BOMB. I loved leaving dripping with sweat and would feel so exhaustedly accomplished at the end of class which was a nice change of pace from my regular bodybuilding and powerlifting style workouts. Cut to realizing that spending $200+ a month for a few classes a week just wasn’t feasible (would rather spend that money on traveling or pizza 🙃) and my husband and I bought a spin bike for our home gym. I’ve used it regularly, but not following a class or app. I tried the Peleton app for about a month but it was meh. Then, I found CycleCast just a couple of weeks ago and have been AMAZED at how great the classes are. I’m left feeling the same way I did when I would leave the actual studio - just as a sweaty, just as a proud, and the music, so far, has been fantastic. Thanks for putting out such an awesome app and letting us ride with you!
This release adds compatibility for your shiny new iOS 26!
