Clone and Soften. Press C, click once on a part of the image that is intact, then drag over the part that is missing. It copies at a fixed offset, so you set the pairing once and fill a gap in as many passes as it takes. F softens the join afterwards. Useful when a generated image leaves a chunk out of a shape. Diagonal lines and shape outlines are antialiased now, so an arrow across a screenshot has no staircase on it. Edges in the shape options turns it off again for pixel art, and the pencil is unaffected. The tool options panel was rebuilt. Size is a wedge that thickens to the right with its stops marked on it, the highlighter's opacity control is a wash of the current ink, and Spotlight's dim is a plate whose darkness is the value. The step badge leads with its number and can start anywhere, for a sequence continued onto a second screenshot. Also fixed: the highlighter's size control said 2 and painted 4, right-clicking a palette swatch now loads Colour 2 the way its tooltip always promised, and the Match sliders stop where the coverage measurements do.

Remove Background now says so when there is nothing to remove, instead of reporting success and changing nothing. Opening an image whose background was already transparent used to add an undo step and mark the document edited for no visible result.

Remove Background now works on the images it was built for. A guard meant to stop it erasing a picture measured how much of the canvas was background, so a logo or product shot on a white sweep — routinely 95% background — was refused. It now measures what the flood left behind instead.

Drag the image straight out of the window into Slack, Mail or the Finder — no save panel, nothing left on the Desktop. Snap to grid for shapes, selections and pasted content, at 8 to 64 pixels. Freehand tools never snap. Annotation text now carries a contrasting rim, so one text colour stays readable across a light panel and a dark one. The highlighter has its own ink — four colours, yellow by default — instead of drawing in the pen's colour. Fixes: an Instant Alpha selection can be dragged after you make it, Share stays clickable while a tool's options are open, and the options panel no longer labels two different rows Size.

Remove Background Image ▸ Remove Background keys the page out from behind your subject in one command — no model, no network, nothing to sign in to. If the image is too flat to key safely it says so and changes nothing, rather than erasing your picture. Signature capture Tools ▸ Signature… (⌃⌘S). Sign with a trackpad, mouse or tablet, or import a photo of a signature on paper. Either way the ink is keyed to transparent and trimmed to itself, so it lands on the artwork instead of dropping a white patch over it, and it arrives as floating content you position like a paste. Signatures are saved for reuse. Fixed • Editing an imported image and quitting no longer throws the edit away in silence. Every document now autosaves as the type it was opened as. • Saving a large screenshot no longer needs most of a gigabyte of memory, or holds the window while it works. • Undo history now scales with the canvas instead of reserving 512 MB per document, so a screenshot cannot quietly retain a gigabyte of pixels. • The canvas is no longer copied whole on every repaint, save and export. • Trimming borders is faster, and the canvas shadow no longer re-renders the artwork offscreen to find its own outline. • The Place / Crop / Discard bar no longer lingers over content that undo has already taken away. Still no account, no telemetry, and no network code at all. The README now carries the three commands that check that against an installed build.
