A heading's section can now fold out of the way: Fold Section, Unfold Section and Unfold All are in the View menu (Option-Command-[ and Option-Command-]). Folding only changes what is shown and never touches the file. The status bar now says how long the document takes to read and counts only the selected text while something is selected; the reading speed is in Settings > Appearance. Control-Command-N turns the caret position into a footnote reference and takes you to its definition at the end of the document, and back. Lede can pair marks and brackets as you type (switch in Settings > Writing). Markdown files saved as UTF-16 now open and save in the same encoding. Shift-Command-F opens a Focus view: the title bar, status bar and formatting bar leave, one bar keeps the word count and text settings, the window closes in to the width of the text, and Esc brings everything back. The old Focus switch is now Dim Other Sentences in the View menu and Settings.

Links and pictures beside your document now work in the App Store version. When a Markdown file links to another file in its folder, such as ./introduction.md, or shows a picture saved next to it, Lede asks once for access to that folder and then remembers it, so the link opens and the picture appears from then on. A picture Lede has not been allowed to show now says so and offers the same one-click permission instead of looking like a missing file.

The writing type-size control now offers a wider, more useful range from 13 to 32 points, including 20, 22, 24, 28 and 32 points. The increase and decrease buttons step through the same values and stop correctly at the ends of the range.

Reference documents now read properly: relative Markdown links such as ./introduction.md open against the folder of the document you are reading, empty HTML anchors stay out of sight and still work, indented indexes keep their levels, and an HTML details block becomes a native fold. Smart quotes and dashes are a setting in Settings > Writing, and Format > Hard Wrap Paragraph at 80 Columns wraps an ordinary paragraph without touching code, tables, lists or link addresses. Focus view now hides Lede's own controls as well as dimming every sentence but yours. Headings keep the same proportions to your text size in Write and Read, with real space above them, and Read gives paragraphs and lists more room. Settings is regrouped, with Page and Typography on Appearance and a General tab for new documents, what an empty launch does and the command line. Large Markdown files avoid syntax work they do not need, so they open and scroll more easily.

Writing aids are now easier to understand and act on: hover a marked passage for an immediate explanation, use the visible key to understand each colour, and right-click to ignore a mark or turn its check off. Sentence-rhythm marks now offer the correct setting action. Fresh installs also open with Duo for writing, Serif for reading, and a clearer bold caret whose colour follows the page, while your existing font and caret choices stay unchanged.

Lede now opens with a clearer welcome screen and makes Markdown editing easier to understand and control. Writing aids, smarter lists, Find and Replace, link creation on paste, table paste and reordering, six heading levels and clearer formatting states all work directly in the editor. Read mode handles more diagrams, quotes, callouts, heading links and document anchors, while file watching, renamed documents, Unicode text and reading selections are protected more carefully. Settings and formatting controls are more compact, accessible and usable in narrow windows.

Mermaid diagrams now draw in Read and in PDF and HTML exports: flowcharts, sequence, state and pie charts. Press Space on any Markdown file in Finder to preview it with Lede. View > Outline (Shift-Command-O) jumps to any heading. Edit > Copy as Rich Text pastes formatted into Mail or Docs, and Paste as Markdown turns a copied web page or doc into Markdown. Front matter at the top of a file now shows quietly instead of as a heading. When a file grows on disk, such as a log or a report an AI tool is writing, Lede follows it to the end, and no longer asks about saving after reloading it. Large files type faster, tables can align columns, and wide characters line up in tables.

Writing in Lede is calmer. Typewriter mode now glides the page instead of jumping, and Focus dims everything except the sentence you are writing, easing across as you move on. The caret can be a line, a block or an underline, in three thicknesses and five colours picked for each page. New writing uses Duo, a duospace font made for drafts, and Read uses Charter. Click Untitled in the title bar to name a new document and save it, and choose whether new documents save as Markdown or plain text. Settings has been rebuilt with a live preview of your page. Also includes the 1.0.5 fix that keeps the Write/Read switch visible with window tabs.
