Information kiosk locked-down web reader with remote MDM administration of content and settings, with optional heartbeat messages with battery & RAM status, site ID etc. ManagdWALplus is designed for use in environments where reliable, tamper-proof access to information is essential, such as laboratories, tourist information kiosks, emergency booths, oil platforms, prisons, and other locations where constant uptime and minimal user intervention is required. With ManagdWALplus, users can easily access predefined startup web pages through configurable top-row buttons. The app ensures a consistent experience 24/7, automatically returning to the startup pages after a set period of inactivity. After inactivity, the screen dims based on an admin-defined timeout. All settings can be remotely managed via a standard MDM system like Microsoft Intune. The app supports multiple languages for buttons, information boxes, and other elements. You can customize text attributes such as size, font, and color, and easily define the URLs for each web button in each supported language. ManagdWALplus also offers a built-in screensaver feature with customizable screen dimming. The screen instantly turns on when touched, without requiring a login. If the device is “locked down” via MDM, users cannot access device settings or launch other apps, though administrators can still access settings locally using a remotely configurable password. Additionally, an idle timer can be configured to automatically return to the startup pages after a period of inactivity. Remote configuration of all settings is supported through MDM systems such as Intune, ManageEngine, and other UEM/EMM solutions. The app can also send heartbeat messages (using HTTPS/JSON) to alert system monitoring servers of the state of the iPad and ManagdWALplus, as well as heartbeat transfer statistics and error messages. By default, ManagdWALplus offers sensible settings that can be quickly customized by defining button titles and startup links via the MDM system. A total of 190 configurable settings are available, including UI elements such fonts, colors, and button sizes as well as heartbeat logging server settings and much more. Many users have successfully configured the app using a small XML file with just a few dozen lines, relying on the default settings for most functions. Privacy Note: ManagdWALplus does not collect any privacy-sensitive or GDPR-related data when used as intended for information kiosk purposes. However, if heartbeat functionality is enabled, anonymous usage statistics such as uptime and button presses may be collected. A user message (which can be customized) will inform users if such statistics are being gathered.
