MonitorControl Lite 4+

Since I started using an external monitor on my new Macbook Pro, I've wanted a way to turn the second screen's brightness down wihtout having to use the physical buttons on it. There are a lot of other apps which try to accomplish this, but they all fail misereably, mostly becuase they are less focused. Instead of trying to be the "Almighty" anything and everything utility app, this MonitorControl Lite app just has the one function, and it does that nearly perfectly. It has enough settings that I can customize it to my prefrences (having the bars show percentages, using overlay instead of gamma dimming, letting me dim the external instead of both at the same time, though it is an option).

To be fair, I've only been using this tool for an hour, but I am so glad that I finally found something that works the way I wanted it to that I had to get this review out. As I mentioned, it is nearly perfect. The only drawback that I can find is there is no tip jar for me to buy the Dev some coffee. 5/5 stars

I have a Apple Cinema Display 27" and it is a great monitor. Love it and used it witjh my MacBooks for years. Just recently updated to a MacBook Pro M1 Pro, and I managed to get it to work with this MacBook using a dock. After MacOS Monteray Apple disabled controlling brightness on the Apple Cinema Displays via the keyboard, I could no longer control the brightness as it was always set to 100%. Well with some searching found this app. It works great and solved my issue. Thank you Istvan Toth for creating this App. Much appreciated.

Amazing! i am so happy someone thought about this app and actually made the screen brightness controllable virtually! This is pure genius and its all fully digital! I cant thank more than this to the developer! Thank you so much for understanding the pain of manually changing display brightness through monitor buttons and making this happen! with just a slide of my magic mouse and voila! Its that simple! love it!
