Bug fixes: • Long formulas no longer spill past the edge of a reply. They scroll sideways instead, and stay tidy while the answer is still being written. • Word and PowerPoint text now reads correctly. Curly quotes, dashes and accented characters were showing as garbled symbols; documents you have already added are re-read automatically, so older files are fixed too. • On iPad, the conversation list no longer overflows in a short window.

This update replaces web search with something that needs no API key, and sharpens how models read your documents. ONLINE LOOKUPS REPLACE WEB SEARCH "Search the web", which required your own Brave Search API key, has been removed. In its place, one "Online lookups" switch lets a capable model check English Wikipedia or Wikidata when a question turns on a fact - a date, a population, who holds an office - and answer with a source card. There is no API key to buy, no account, and no server of ours in the path. Lookups are off by default: Settings > Online lookups. SOURCES YOU CAN OPEN A web source card now shows the site it came from and opens the page when you tap it. Older answers in your history get the same link. YOUR OLD SEARCH KEY IS DELETED If an earlier version stored a Brave Search API key, this update removes it from the Keychain on first launch, along with the old search setting. SHARPER ANSWERS TO MULTI-PART QUESTIONS Ask a document or knowledge base something with two parts and each part is now ranked on its own, so a strong match on one no longer buries the other. MODEL FIXES - SmolLM3 no longer prints its reasoning as the answer, and its tool calls are recognised when it writes them mid-sentence. - Qwen models keep reasoning and answer text properly separated. - Document searches survive quoted phrases inside a model's tool call. As always, models run entirely on your device. No account, no telemetry, no subscription, and nothing metered.

WORD AND POWERPOINT Attach a .docx or .pptx the same way you already attach a PDF. Slide decks are read properly — the text inside tables, charts and pictures on a slide is pulled out on device with Apple's Vision framework — and both formats can now be previewed inside the app. CITATIONS YOU CAN CHECK Every reference beside an answer now carries a badge. QUOTED means the answer took that wording straight from the passage; otherwise the badge grades how closely the passage matched your question. And when an answer about your documents turns out to rest on nothing in the passages it was given, Mortise discards it and writes a new one. FASTER FOLLOW-UP QUESTIONS Mortise now keeps what a model has already read between questions, and between the steps of a search, so a follow-up deep in a long conversation starts answering without re-reading the whole thread. How much it can hold is sized against the memory actually free on your device. FIXES • A hello no longer sends the model off searching your documents or knowledge base. • Discarding a paused download now removes it from disk, so the model returns to Download instead of getting stuck. • A model that fails to load is no longer left in the active slot, and switching models mid-download no longer loads the one you moved away from. • Models that can show their reasoning now start with it switched off.
