This app is awesome for communicating over short range; like biking or driving in separate cars for road trips with no cell service. It struggles beyond 150 feet or so with direct line of sight or about 70 feet with obstacles / walls. The main “bugs” we found: The app would not find the other user (group) with anything but short group names and no password. When we used a longer group name and/or one with a password the phones never found each other.

Murmur is an incredibly well-designed app that does something most people don’t realize is possible: real-time group audio over Bluetooth mesh, with no internet or centralized infrastructure. The implementation is rock solid—audio stays clear, latency is impressively low, and the mesh routing actually extends range in a meaningful way. I’ve used it on hikes with friends spread out along the trail, and it just works. It’s the kind of tool that feels both technically elegant and genuinely useful. I’m glad this exists—it fills a real gap in offline communication.

Ok for an app with nothing else like it. Basic functions work but cannot set passwords.

The only improvement I can imagine would be to allow music at the same time if possible
