Pasted values appear instantly and the copy outline clears. Changes from Go To, Find, the name box, and the formula bar now redraw right away.

Spreadsheets made by a script keep their formatting. A workbook written by Python's openpyxl used to open with every font, colour, fill and border silently gone. Hebrew and Arabic files open with their text. Nought could not recognise the Hebrew or Arabic character sets at all, so those files came back as nonsense. A workbook too large to open completely now says so, and will not overwrite your original with the part it could show. Column widths from other people's files are honoured, so a report opens in the shape it was built in. A colour you pick is the colour you get. Nought was quietly overruling nearly half the colours in its own picker. CONCATENATE over a range now matches Excel, and Escape clears the copy outline.

Large CSV files open straight away. One that used to take minutes now opens in a fraction of a second, and on the file that was reported it is 373 times faster. Copying a block of cells no longer mangles accented characters when you paste into another app. Nought was putting UTF-8 on the clipboard in a form that never said so. Single cells were always fine, which is why this took a careful report to find. Filtering and Select All stay responsive on a long sheet. Both were re-reading the whole sheet every time the window redrew, which is worst in exactly the case you reached for them. Nought remembers where you left its window. New: GROUPBY and PIVOTBY. Group rows and aggregate them from a formula, as in =GROUPBY(A2:A9, B2:B9, SUM), or cross-tabulate with PIVOTBY. The default save format in Settings now does what it says. Choose Excel, ODS or CSV and new spreadsheets use it. A file you opened keeps its own format.

Colours now come from the file. A workbook can define its own palette, and Nought was using the standard one instead, which on some files turned grey row banding into solid blue. Saving keeps much more of your workbook: sheet protection, row grouping and subtotals, chart data labels and trendlines, sparklines, conditional formatting thresholds, data validation, auto-filters, and the workbook theme. Opening a file and closing it without editing no longer rewrites it. Merged cells now behave like one cell. Merging says what it will discard and asks first, clicking one and pressing Merge unmerges it, and a merged title in a frozen row draws correctly. Export as PDF uses the page setup you already chose, and can export just the selection. Also: the fill handle is visible and fills down on a double-click, Command-A inside a cell selects that cell's text, macro workbooks open, large formula workbooks open promptly, and dark mode is readable.

Fixes in-app purchase, which could not reach the App Store in the previous version.

Opening a workbook can no longer rewrite it. A file you only looked at was being saved back on quit, larger and stripped. Data validation rules, auto-filters and conditional format colours now survive a save. All three were being lost. Real pivot tables. Several fields down the rows and across the columns, more than one value field, filters, date grouping, percentage of total, running total. They save into .xlsx as a real pivot cache Excel opens. Formulas update when a cell they depend on changes. Typing a formula by clicking cells works. You can type the operator between references without clicking back into the formula bar. Return on a cell you did not edit no longer wipes it. Cmd+Shift+Down no longer crashes over uneven rows. Black text set by the file is visible in dark mode again. Nought warns before a save would drop something it cannot write, and only when your file actually contains it. Also: Wrap Text in the Format menu and toolbar, Print Selection on Cmd+Option+P, double-click the fill handle to fill down, merged cells behave like merged cells.

FIXED - DATA LOSS Every data validation rule was destroyed when you saved. Rules now survive. Pressing Return on a cell you had not edited could wipe it. Opening a workbook could rewrite it on disk, five times larger and with chart data stripped, without you saving anything. Saving could silently drop macros, pivot tables and other content the writer did not understand. Nought now tells you before it overwrites, and saving a macro workbook as .xlsx warns you first. Conditional formatting colours shifted slightly on every save. The auto-filter was lost in both directions on a round trip. FIXED - EDITING Delete now clears every selected cell, not just the first one. Cmd+Delete deletes the selected rows, as it does elsewhere on the Mac. Fixed a crash when selecting to the end of a sheet with Cmd+Shift+Down. A SUM did not always update when a cell it depended on changed. Sorting is now visible immediately, instead of after you click away. Sorting no longer reorders columns outside your selection without asking. Merged cells behave as one cell: the covered cells are no longer editable. Double-click the fill handle to fill down. Escape now always leaves cell editing, even after switching apps. NEW Real pivot tables. Nested fields, multiple values, filters, date grouping, percentage of total and running totals. They refresh, and they save into .xlsx as a pivot cache Excel can open. Thirteen more chart types, bringing the total to twenty-three: horizontal bar, stacked and 100% stacked area, bubble, step line, radar, stock, treemap, sunburst, histogram, Pareto, box and whisker, and funnel. Export any chart as PNG or SVG, or copy it straight to the clipboard. The SVG is real vector output with live text. Macro-enabled workbooks (.xlsm, .xltm) open, and macros are preserved. Pinch on the trackpad or hold Option and scroll to zoom. Filter and Sort now act on your selection, and say which range they will use. ALSO A 66,000-formula workbook that never finished opening now opens. Find is much faster on large sheets. Charts stay inside the grid instead of drawing over the toolbar and tabs. Black text specified by a file is readable in dark mode. Cmd+` is back to macOS window cycling. Toolbar icon and welcome-window polish.
