Offline voices for VoiceOver
Free
Bring expressive, offline speech to VoiceOver with Gradium Phonon.
Phonon includes 102 voices in English, French, German, Spanish and Portuguese, with regional English choices and character voices. Speech is generated on your device: no account, subscription or speech server is needed.
Open Phonon once to prepare the voices, then choose a Phonon voice in Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver > Speech. Use VoiceOver's controls for rate and pitch, and interrupt speech as you navigate. The app lets you browse languages and voices, preview text and refresh the system voice list. Its preview selections do not change your VoiceOver voice.
Character voices appear under English (United States). Neural speech can occasionally misread letters, numbers or unfamiliar names. Keep another working voice available in your rotor.
Requires iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later. All voices and the speech model are included. No advertising, analytics or collection of your speech text.
Uses Gradium Phonon (gradium.ai). This free, non-commercial app includes the multilingual model with Gradium's permission.
