Open E57, LAS, LAZ, PLY and PTS scans on Mac, iPad and iPhone, measure them against an IFC or USDZ model, hide what is in the way and read what it says — offline. Pointclouds Viewer opens laser scans on your Mac, iPad and iPhone — measure them, cut sections, compare a scan against a model, and export the results. Everything happens on the device: no account, no upload, no network connection of any kind. FORMATS • E57 with registered scan setups, colour, intensity and spherical photographs • LAS and LAZ, versions 1.0 to 1.4, with colour, intensity and point classification; COPC opens as the LAZ it is • PLY, ASCII and binary, little and big endian; PTS and PTX; XYZ and TXT with intensity or RGB columns • IFC models, including zipped and gzipped, opened beside the scan as context for it • USDZ, USD, OBJ, STL, glTF and GLB models • DXF floor plans, laid under the scan to compare against, with the drawing's own layers to switch off • Several files can be imported at once and become one project with all their setups Import turns a scan into an offline project on the device, and the original file is never modified. Reading is streamed: a scan of over a hundred million points imports within a few tens of megabytes of working memory, and the level of detail is chosen for the current view rather than loaded all at once. MEASURE AND INSPECT • Distance, with its horizontal and vertical components • Polylines, angles, and best-fit areas that report how far points sit from the fitted plane • Notes anchored to a point • Every pick is verified against the cloud at full resolution; an uncertain one is refused rather than guessed • Measurements and notes are saved in the project and restored when you open it THE SCAN AGAINST THE MODEL Open a model next to the scan and see where the building differs from the drawing. Place it by an estimate from its extents, by dragging it in the view, or by exact steps of a centimetre. The model is what moves, never the scan — the scan is the measurement, the model is the intention. Scale never changes. A measurement can then run from a point on the scan to a surface on the model: how far the built thing is from the drawn one. WHAT A MODEL SAYS Press and hold an element of an IFC model for a menu. Hide it, or every element of its kind at once — the roof, to see inside — with what is hidden listed by kind and brought back in one press. Or read its properties: its type, its fire rating, the quantities taken off it, including all it inherits from its type, which in most files is the greater part of what the file says. A toolbar button shows what the file says about itself. COLOUR RGB, intensity, elevation, a heatmap, or LAS point classification — ground, vegetation, buildings — each in its own colour. SECTIONS AND ROOMS • A clipping box that rotates around the vertical axis, a plane, or a slab of a given thickness • Save a cut together with the camera view under a name — Living room, Kitchen — and return to it • Clipped points are not drawn, not loaded and cannot be picked; an open model is cut too PANORAMAS Scans that carry photographs show them as a panorama you can look around from the scanner's own position, on its own or overlaid on the cloud. Scanners that store a set of perspective photographs per setup, rather than one spherical image, are assembled during import. EXPORT CSV with one row per vertex, JSON of the whole sidecar including sections, and a PNG snapshot of the viewport with its markers. Exported JSON can be imported back and merged. What is inside a section saves on its own as a LAS file — one floor out of a scan of a whole house. FREE AND PRO The app is free and keeps one project. Pro removes that limit for a single payment. No subscription, and projects you already have stay open either way. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO Point data is not edited, scans are not registered, and there is no AR. Clouds in two different coordinate systems are not brought into one. A model is read, never written: BCF and IDS are not read, and where a model has been placed is not stored with the project. The interface is available in English and Czech.
