• Personalize the address bar contents: show the page title, read time, site favicon, adjust the text size, and choose from a range of elegant visual styles.
• Personalize the toolbar color. Go white, gray, pink, dark, or even full black, and set different styles for light and dark modes.
• Personalize the long-press context menu.
• Optional full-screen reading on scroll.

NEW
• The tab overview has a new, more convenient look when in grid mode and “group by domain” is enabled.
• When opening the tab overview, the list scrolls automatically so that the last active tab is visible.
• You can now share the app from Settings → Share Quiche Browser.

FIXED
• Search queries with operators like “site:quiche.org” were not working.
• Changing the tab opening animation in Settings only applied after closing the current tab. (Thanks Longely!)

Wow! I’ve bounced between different browsers for so long for various reasons. It’s so bad I have multiple browsers installed for specific use cases. For me it’s often come down to, chrome is ubiquitous but I don’t like its tab placement on mobile, Firefox is nice but I don’t like the menu system, Opera is ok but a bit overstated in its design. Sometimes I want a menu item in the context menu and that means I have to use a different browser. Quiche let’s you customize all of that! You can taylor your experience while still using Safari under the hood. Put everything where it works for you!

Question: Can I get this on MacOS?

Developer Response ,

So happy you took the time to write that super detailed review! Thank you so much 😊

In the near future I would like to build a Mac app to open and sync tabs from other devices.
Then I will see whether the future iPad app can also run on Macs with Apple silicon.

I would love to build a proper Quiche Browser for Mac, but from my experience with my other app, this takes quite some time, and I would rather have an awesome experience on mobile devices first.

Focus and control

As someone who has used the packaged browser as well as many 3rd party browsers on iOS, this is a breath of fresh air. I have full control over my toolbar and menu items without having to worry about an app updating switching everything around.

As someone who prefers to use mobile websites over downloading an app, I super appreciate a browser that can help me focus rather than bogging down screen-estate with extra browser icons.

Developer Response ,

Awesome to receive praise from someone who has tried a lot of browsers, and who values focused browsing 😊 Thanks a lot!

The power user's browser

Quiche browser is the tool for power users of the web. Those who spend the majority of the time not in individual compartmentalized apps but in Safari. You can finally customize the browser and taylor it to your browsing habits. This app is not for you if you want some distant product designer to design a user experience for you; it's for the nerds who want to customize everything and mold the app to their idiosyncrasies.

Developer Response ,

I should hire you as a salesman 😄 Thanks a ton for taking the time to write that super kind review.
