This app focuses on CVCC and CCVC words.It divides its games into 3 skill levels.The two skills it uses before reading are blending and segmenting-which have been shown to be highly effective in building great reading skills. This app does a good job conceptually of giving children the opportunity to practice those skills.I have seen the children in my class grow in their language ability through using this app.It is simple and uncluttered and highly recommended.

I'm not one to rate apps all the time but I had to with this one. I'm a tutor and I've an 8-year old student whose reading is not up to par yet. I've been seeking an app that's appropriate for his age (as most apps are for younger ages) and that encourages learning how to read through phonetical execution (my term for sounding out the letters) and not by looking at the images and saying the words from memory, which doesn't teach kids how to read at all!I am quite thankful for this app.Please continue to make excellent applications in multiple levels and I will gladly support it.

After your child has successfully learned his alphabet and sounds, the next natural step is to teach how to put those sounds and letters together to form words. This app is excellent for that. It is not a plain drag the letters to the squares and whatnot, this app actually teaches the power of blending and such. Very thankful for this app. My son is five and has just started to blend, this will give him the needed boost. I recommend this app for beginning readers or check out the level one. Hats off to the developers!
