Description

Let the display automatically adjust to the apps you're using.

***
Screen Expander is not a resolution switcher even though it can be used as one. It was designed as a running apps manager that switches the resolution based on the active app. So every single app may run with its own resolution mode fully revealing the benefits of Retina Displays.

***
Screen Expander is the best way to manage screen resolutions to get all the benefits Retina Display provides. Such as more screen space or mode with the cleanest font.

And Screen Expander does it all automatically! Just specify the display mode you want for a particular application, and Screen Expander will do the rest. When the specified application becomes active, your displays immediately switch to the selected mode.

Features:
- individual display modes for any application
- choose from all display modes by clicking the status bar icon
- switch between the primary and secondary display modes by right-clicking the icon
- lock the resolution for a specific application until it is closed
- supports up to 16 displays
- full support of Macs on Apple Silicone

Unleash the full potential of Retina Display!

* Screen Expander is recommended only for Retina Displays or HiDPI counterparts

Great when it works, but inconsistent

This app is great when it works, but in some scenarios it simply won't run.

It runs fine on my MacBook Air with an M1 CPU, with zero or one external displays.

If I connect a second external display, which requires the third-party DisplayLink Manager software on M1-base MacBooks, then Screen Expander immediately exits and won't restart. Once I disconnect the second external display, I can run it again.

If the bug/conflict with DisplayLink were fixed, I'd give the app 4 or maybe 5 stars.

Crashes out on M1

Love the idea of the app however on my new Macbook Air Apple M1 silicon it is unstable. Only works each time I do a fresh download. When I restart my laptop the app vanishes from the menu bar and stops functioning. If I delete and re-install it works, until I shut the computer down then it fails at relaunch! Hope this gets fixed soon.

FALSE ADVERTISING

App just manages resolutions downward, in other words if you have 1080 it can change it for you to 720. So no expanding gonna happen to your desktop space. The fonts will go from 13 to 90 and thats it.

And all this you can do by yourself without having to pay $6.99 on the screen section of the display options in the settings menu.
