Screen Snipe is a lightweight, native macOS app for capturing your screen, annotating with precision, and organizing everything in a local library. All features are free, with no in-app purchases and no account required. The source can be found at https://github.com/vucetica/screensnipe. Feel free to contribute.
CAPTURE
• Region selection: click and drag to capture any area
• Full screen: capture your entire display instantly
• Window picker: click any window to capture it
• Series: pick a region, window, or screen once, then snap as many stills of that same target as you need. Every frame lands in a single library item
• Configurable system-wide keyboard shortcuts with conflict detection
• Choose what happens after a capture: open the editor, copy to the clipboard, or both
RECORD
• Record the full screen, a region, or a specific window
• Pause and resume mid-recording
• System audio and microphone capture with device selection
• Visual countdown and a border around the area being recorded
ANNOTATE
• Arrow, line, and shape tools: rectangle, ellipse, rounded rectangle
• Text annotations with adjustable font and size. Double-click any text to edit it again
• Highlighter and blur for emphasis and redaction
• Non-destructive crop you can revisit at any time

• Your captures stay in a folder on your Mac that you pick
• Nothing leaves your Mac unless you ask it to. Copy iCloud Link puts that one capture in your own iCloud Drive to create the link. Text cleanup runs on-device
