more I had heard about this app a few months ago. I finally got around to purchasing it and I’m really, really happy I have. It’s a massive time-saver and saves me the annoyance of having to take screenshots and then going through the work of finding them and placing them where I need to which (in the past) involved having a finder window open and then dragging it into the editor I was working in. For example, as I watch videos teaching me how to use a program or whatever, I’ll take notes in an editor while I watch the video. Sometimes I want to grab a screenshot to drop into my notes to highlight a particular point. With ScreenFloat I can take that screenshot and have it float in my view where I can then copy it and drop it into my notes immediately instead of digging around in my file structure to complete the same task. The app is a little more powerful than that and I can see how it’ll come in handy for other tasks (like another reviewer mentioned taking a screenshot of server settings and having it simply “float” there while you type it all in instead of having to copy and paste it somewhere) but even just using it in the way that I am it’s a great utility. Well worth the money and I highly recommend it. Thanks, dev!

Once again, I got a very timely response to a query about a “missing” Print option. It was fixed the next day! Of course not all fixes happen so quickly. While the video screen capture is probably the most complex new addition, I’m most excited by the “Detect text” option. I use it regularly and it works very well. Indeed, from a screenfloat it detects both English and Chinese even if the original target was an image. This is definitely an app to get and to use if you ever take screenshots. - Searching in the Shots Browser has become better. For instance, searching for “design 25” will find a shot titled “Design Proposal 25”, as well as “2025 Design Template”, in addition to the exact phrase
- Shots in the Shots Browser's Trash can now be floated not only by double-clicking, but also from the toolbar or by pressing return/enter on the keyboard, just like outside the Trash
- You can now change whether or not your mouse cursor should be captured in timed shots

- After exporting, the export folder is no longer auto-revealed in Finder
- Copying shots (in all different file formats) is now streamlined, as it provides both a file and the data copied for maximum compatibility
- Improves copying during capture by holding down the control key (^), in that these copies are now directly paste-able in Finder
- In the Shots Browser, the Quick-Drag-Popover now properly supports Sharing and “open with” with multiple selected Shots
- When cropping and zooming in by pinching, the crop rectangle now stays at the same size and does not zoom in with the image
