A butterfly flaps its wings in Brazil. Weeks later, a tornado forms in Texas. Your decisions work exactly the same way. You weigh the raise. You take the job. You move cities, raise your prices, sign the lease. And two years later, the thing that actually reshaped your life is never the thing you sat down to decide. It is the thing that thing caused. That is a second-order consequence: the effect of the effect. Everyone sees step one. Almost nobody sees step three. Step three is where your life is decided. Second Order exists to show you step three. HOW IT WORKS 1. Describe the decision you are facing, in plain language. Any topic, any size. 2. Get its consequences mapped across three time horizons. 3. See the money you had not counted, and the biases quietly steering you. 4. Decide with the whole picture instead of the first step. THE THREE HORIZONS Immediate effects (0 to 6 months). The obvious ones. The raise lands, the commute starts, the lease is signed. The part you were already thinking about. Secondary ripples (6 to 24 months). The effects of those effects. The commute quietly eats the gym, then the cooking, then the evenings you said were keeping you sane. Nobody decides to lose those. They just go. Long term impact (2 to 5 years and beyond). Where it compounds. A salary baseline permanently reset. A location lock-in that narrows every option after it. A burnout pattern you have already lived through twice. Alongside them: the financial impact (estimated cost, the hidden costs nobody mentions, the opportunity cost of what you are not doing instead) and the cognitive traps steering this decision, named outright. IT LEARNS HOW YOU DECIDE A 60-second quiz builds your decision profile: how fast you move, how deep you look, how much risk you carry, how far ahead you see. Every analysis you save sharpens the next one, and the app watches the blind spot you are most likely to repeat. All of it stays on your phone. FIND OUT IF YOU WERE RIGHT Most decision tools stop the moment you decide. Second Order asks you to come back. Set a follow-up when you save a decision. Months later it resurfaces and asks what actually happened. Over time you build something almost nobody has: a real track record of your own judgment, and evidence of which blind spot keeps costing you. EVERYTHING INSIDE - Consequence mapping across three time horizons - Financial impact: estimated, hidden and opportunity cost - Cognitive bias detection on every analysis - Outcome tracking with follow-up reminders - Prediction track record: how often the analysis called it - Your recurring blind spots, charted over time - A private decision journal, stored on your device - Export your journal to PDF - On-device insights written by Apple Intelligence, on iPhone models that support it FREE AND PRO Free gives you the immediate consequences of any decision, plus the recommendation. That is the honest version of the problem: one step ahead. Pro gives you the rest: second and third-order effects, the financial breakdown, bias detection, your full journal history, pattern analysis and prediction track record. PRIVACY No account. No sign-in. No tracking. No analytics. Your journal never leaves your device. To produce an analysis, the decision you type is sent to Google's Gemini API, and only after you explicitly agree, on a screen naming exactly what is transmitted. You can withdraw that permission any time in Settings, and everything already saved stays on your phone. Every choice creates ripples. Most people only ever see the splash. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings. • This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.

Every consequence now carries a confidence rating. A neat chain of consequences can feel more certain than the reasoning behind it deserves. So each consequence is now marked likely, plausible or possible, and the app shows that difference instead of giving a near certainty and a long shot the same weight on the page. Effects further out depend on the earlier ones holding, so they are rated lower more often. That gradient is the useful part: it tells you which pieces of an analysis to lean on and which to hold loosely. Ratings carry through to PDF exports, and every analysis already in your journal opens exactly as before.
