Espresso tastes sour, bitter or thin? Get one change at a time — with the reason — from a dialing engine that remembers every shot you have pulled.
Free. No feed, no streaks, no subscription.
ShotPulled is a dialing companion for espresso. You tell it how the shot tasted; it tells you the one thing to change next, and why.
TASTE FIRST, NOT NUMBERS FIRST
A shot that runs 18g in, 41g out in 22 seconds is not automatically wrong — it depends on the coffee, the roast, and how old the bag is. ShotPulled starts from what you tasted. Sour, bitter, harsh, thin, hollow, ashy, or the puck choked and sprayed. From there the engine ranks what is most likely causing it, tells you how confident it is, and recommends a single change.
One variable per shot. Grind, or yield, or temperature, or prep — never two at once, because two changes and neither of them is measurable.
IT KNOWS YOUR GRINDER
Collars differ. Some count clicks, some have numbered marks, some use compound rings like 1.2.2, some just say "fine" and "coarse". ShotPulled ships a catalog of 67 grinders, 124 machines and 17 scales, every entry checked against the manufacturer's own manual, so "go two clicks finer" means two clicks on the grinder in front of you.
It will not quote you micron numbers. Burr sets are not comparable that way, and a number invents a precision that does not exist.
A CLEAN MOVES THE DIAL, AND THE APP KNOWS IT
Take a hand grinder apart to clean the burrs and the collar goes back on wherever it lands. Every recipe you locked before that describes a burr gap the same number no longer means.
ShotPulled logs the clean and reads your locked recipes through it. Pull one shot at the old setting and it works the offset out from the flow; or count the clicks yourself as you put the grinder back together. Either way it tells you what your old 1.2.2 is today, and it never rewrites what you actually logged.
If nobody measured, it says so and shows no corrected number at all. Unmeasured is a state, not a zero, and an honest blank beats a confident wrong figure.
It also tells you when the next clean is due, counted three ways: days, shots, and the grams that have gone through the burrs.
FRESHNESS THAT MEANS SOMETHING
Every bag gets a peak window with a track showing where today sits on it, the day the window opens and the day it closes. Freeze a bag and the clock stops — the days in the freezer are excluded from its age, so a bag frozen on day 6 is still on day 6 when you thaw it.
YOUR SCALE, IF IT SPEAKS BLUETOOTH
Weigh the dose in, weigh the shot out, and the numbers fill themselves. Scales with their own clock send the time along with the yield; the rest get a timer the app runs. Either way it never starts itself, and manual entry is always there.
Supported: Bookoo, Decent, DiFluid, Felicita, Timemore and Varia.
THE SAME BREWS IN YOUR AI CHAT
ShotPulled is also an MCP server. Connect it to ChatGPT or Claude and dial in by talking — "my last shot was sour, what should I change?" — reading and writing the same coffees, shots, equipment and recipes you see in the app. One account, three places: iPhone, web dashboard, AI chat.
WHAT ELSE IT KEEPS
- Every shot, with the grind setting, the ratio, the flow rate and what you tasted
- Locked recipes: a shot you liked, saved as the reference for that bean, grinder and machine
- How much coffee is left in the bag, and roughly how many shots that is
- Your grinders, machines, waters and scales, with the programs on each machine
- A running record of what you were told to change and whether it worked
- When the burrs were last cleaned, and what that clean did to your dial reference
FOR PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY PULL SHOTS
There is no feed, no streak, no badge. It does not gamify your coffee. It is a bench tool that answers one question well: what do I change next, and why.
ShotPulled needs an account, and works with any espresso machine and grinder — the equipment catalog is a convenience, not a requirement. You can register anything by hand.
It is a deterministic rulebook, not an AI guessing — you can read the rule behind every recommendation.

Maintenance for every grinder and machine: what the maker says to do and how often, what it forbids, and a guide for each task. Log any task, set your own schedule, and see what is due from the Cockpit.
Switch bag now groups your bags into open, ready to open, resting and frozen, with a ring showing each bag's peak window. Switching bags, grinders or machines no longer flickers back to the old one.
