Capture, annotate and stitch scrolling screenshots from the menu bar, and let your AI agent, such as Claude Code or Codex, take screenshots for you through MCP.
Sightline is a menu bar screenshot tool for the Mac. Press a shortcut, drag over the part of the screen you want, and the shot is on your clipboard and in your folder before you let go of the mouse. It works for you, and it works for the AI agents on your Mac.
Capture the way you expect. Area, window and full screen captures with the shortcuts you already know, a magnifier for pixel exact selections, a floating thumbnail with Copy, Save, Edit and Delete, and a repeat shortcut that takes the same area again. Screenshots are saved as PNG or JPEG in a folder of your choice with names that sort by time.
Scrolling capture. Long pages and chat logs become one tall image. Scroll the content yourself and Sightline stitches the frames together.
Annotate in seconds. The editor draws arrows, lines, rectangles, ellipses, text, highlights, spotlight, magnify, blur and step numbers with single key tools, seven colors and six stroke widths. Shapes stay editable until you copy or save. Enter copies the finished image and closes the window.
Capture Text. Select an area and Sightline reads the text in it on your Mac and puts it on the clipboard, with an editable preview before you paste. It also reads QR codes and barcodes. Nothing leaves your computer.
Names your screenshots. Instead of a row of timestamps, a capture is named after what is in it, like stripe-webhook-401.png. The reading and the naming happen on your Mac, after the file is saved, so nothing waits on it.
Spots credentials before you share. Sightline reads a capture and points out anything that looks like a password, an API key or a token, and blurs the value while leaving the name in front of it readable, so the shot still shows which variable leaked. It can blur without asking, and it can blur before an agent is handed the image.
Blur the shape, not a box. Click a face, an avatar or a line of text and the blur follows it instead of covering a rectangle around it. Shift click adds a part it missed, Option click takes one away. Uses Apple's on-device Vision model and needs macOS 27 or later.
Works with Shortcuts and Spotlight. Capture Screen, Area, Window, Text, Scrolling and Last Screenshot are all Shortcuts actions, so a capture can start a workflow. Saved screenshots show up in Spotlight under their name, so a screenshot named after what it shows is one search away.
Built for your AI agent. Sightline bundles an MCP server so your agent, such as Claude Code or Codex, can capture the screen, list windows, read text, stitch scrolling content, draw and crop annotations, copy a screenshot to your clipboard and open one in the editor on your behalf. Connect your agent with one click from Settings; Claude Code, Claude Desktop and Codex CLI are set up for you. Agent access is off until you turn it on, the first request from a new agent asks you to allow or deny it, allowed agents are listed in Settings and can be removed at any time, and every agent capture plays the capture sound and shows which agent took it, so you always know when one runs. Agents cannot change settings, and they can only read and write inside your screenshot folder.
Private by design. There are no accounts and no analytics, and Sightline has no server of its own. Screenshots stay on your Mac, and text recognition, naming and the sensitive content check all run on device. The only thing Sightline ever fetches is the Apple model that subject blur needs, once, from Apple.

Sightline Pro adds the editor, window and scrolling capture, Capture Text and AI agents: free for 7 days, then 3.99 per month, 24.99 per year or 29.99 once. Screenshots can name themselves from what is in them.
Sightline now points out passwords, API keys and tokens in a capture and can blur them, including before an agent is handed the image.
Blur follows the shape you click, a face or a line of text, rather than a rectangle around it.
Capture actions work in Shortcuts, and Spotlight finds screenshots by name.
The editor closes when you save, and saving again after more edits writes a new file instead of overwriting the last one.
The thumbnail has a close button, and can be swiped away on a trackpad.
Fixed a crash that could close Sightline when an agent used it.
