READ THE SCREENPLAY Import a PDF and SmartBreakdown identifies scenes, headings, scene numbers, page lengths in eighths, DAY/NIGHT and INT/EXT. Dialogue and action keep their screenplay structure. Scanned PDFs are supported, and uncertain scene headings are shown for review instead of being silently guessed. BREAK IT DOWN YOUR WAY Create your own departments and categories, choose their colours and symbols, and assign them to any scene. Add department notes, formatted text, reference images and videos, or highlight passages directly in the screenplay. Totals are calculated per scene, per department or across any group of scenes, and can be included in PDF and Excel exports. SCRIPT, STORY DAY AND CONTINUITY Each scene can carry a running time, story day and in-scene clock time. Running times can be estimated from scene length and replaced with measured values later. See all scenes from Story Day 2, track what time a phone or watch must display, and total running times by episode or shooting day. KEEP YOUR WORK THROUGH REVISIONS Import a new screenplay draft without starting over. Departments, notes and markings stay attached to scene numbers rather than page positions. Revision colours show what changed between drafts, and you can mark revised material as reviewed as you work through it. Open a shooting day to see its scenes in shooting order, with page count, running time, story days and your department's workload. FIND SCENES BY MEANING Semantic search finds scenes by context, not only exact words. Search for a concept such as “phone screen”, “someone receives a message” or “computer in the background” and find relevant scenes even when the screenplay uses different wording.
