Snitscanner is a photocopier app. It works like a real copier: a scan line moves across the glass and copies one thin strip at a time. Move, turn or swap the photo while the line passes, and the copy smears, stretches, doubles and breaks apart. Nothing is generated: every result comes from your hand on the glass.
THE COPIER
• Slit-scan in real time: horizontal or vertical, at any speed
• Three inks: color, copier and dither, with lighter / darker and fine / coarse dots
• Noise and grain, from clean to worn-out
• Ten paper colors: white, recycled, cream, kraft, pink, blue and more
• On the glass: grid, dust and toner smudge, each with its own strength
• Loop to keep scanning, or feed the copy back in and copy the copy until it wears away
• Layering: each pass replaces the last, or stacks on top with darken, multiply or screen
GESTURES AND CONTROL
• Pinch to scale and twist to rotate freely with two fingers on the trackpad
• ⌘-scroll to scale, ⌥-scroll to rotate, drag to move, even while it scans
• Rotate 90°, center, and reset rotation from the Image menu
• Zoom the result from fit to 1:1 and beyond, so dither dots stay sharp
• Focus mode hides the panels; result-only shows the copy full size
UP TO 8 IMAGES
• Up to eight images on the glass at once: drag to reorder, show or hide each
• Per image: opacity, brightness, contrast and invert
• Remove background: lift a person or object out of a photo, done on your Mac. Pick one subject or keep them all, and restore the original any time
• Drop, paste or open images; double-click a layer to replace it
VIDEO AND CAMERA
• Put a video file on the glass: play, pause, scrub, change speed from ¼× to 4×, or play only while the line scans so one pass becomes a stretch of time
• Use a live camera as an image on the glass
OUTPUT
• Page size up to 8000 px on a side (64 megapixels), with presets for square, 4:5, 2:3, 3:2, 16:9 and 9:16 at 1× to 4×
• Print sizes A5, A4, A3, A2, Letter and Tabloid at 150, 300 or 600 dpi
• Export PNG with the resolution written into the file, ready for print
• Record the scan as video: MP4 (H.264 or HEVC, full size, 1080p or 720p) or a looping GIF (480 to full width, 10, 15 or 24 fps)
• Record one pass, or the workspace and the result side by side
PROJECTS AND UNDO
• Save whole projects: images, videos, settings and the result, in one .snit file
• Open Recent, and unsaved changes are never lost without asking
• Undo and redo every run, move and setting
