HONEST ABOUT TWO THINGS Scanning is better online for 33 of the 58 — some use scripts your phone can't read at all, and in others it reads badly enough to matter. Without a signal your phone still has a go, and typing works offline in every language. And listening depends on your phone rather than on us — an iPhone can hear about half of the 58. Where yours can't, SofiLingo says so before you press record and offers you a language it can hear instead. We'd rather tell you now than have you find out at the worst moment. • Rate SofiLingo straight from the home screen. • Free up space by removing languages you no longer need: when choosing a language, tap Remove beside any you've downloaded. Each is about 30 MB, and you can download it again over Wi-Fi.
