Spark Mail - AI Email & Inbox 4+

Best mail app Ive used

Firstly, Ive been using spark for a while and the last verion has been a big positive step forward but there are a couple of things that could use work.

1. I have issues with the app after my mac has been idle for a while. It will not react and I can seclect any threads - this has been going on for a while and while a quick restart of the app seems to take car of the issue it's still a but annoying
2. Accepting a sender on email doesn't translate to the desktop version- when I chose to accpet a recipient on my phone it often still remains pending on the desktop version - which can be annoying after a few days of not using the desktop app
3. I would love to see a grammarly integation- I like the AI feature but have been using Grammarly for years and it would be great to get a deeper initation

Painful to use

I've been a paid Spark user for a couple of years. Before the redesign the app was really solid. More powerful than Apple Mail and less bloated than Outlook it did a great job of managing multiple email accounts.
The new client design is far less usable and useful, and the AI, Smart inbox features, and searchable feature set don't make up for missing and hidden features for mail management that are so commonplace they make the app seem like a prototype for people who have never used a mail app. Simplicity is a good goal, but the design team appears to have embraced minimalism for its own sake. For example, I have 5 different email accounts. Switching between those accounts requires that I have to expand the accounts sidebar every time I open a message in the reading pane, and because they aren't labeled, I need to hover over the account thumbnail to distinguish which account to select. This violates well known usability practices. Reply all to a thread is hidden, which causes broken email threads unless you search for that feature, and most frustrating of all, you can't even window out an email, which makes pasting information between messages or refering to something said in a prior message cumbersome. There is no way to see the email list while the reading view is open, and multi-selecting emails in the list isn't intuitive. Frankly, if I hadn't paid for a full year prior to this release, I would have given up on the app by now.

Disappointing... try Classic instead!

I'm an avid fan of Readdle software and love Spark Classic. Spark Classic is hands-down the best email applicatin I've ever used and I've tried almost all of them. But I can't recommend Spark Desktop unless you're a specific kind of user. I tried this new AI version for 7 months but have just returend to Spark Classic. This version was missing too many "standard" features of the classic Spark: quick replies, switching to the finder and the location of the file you just downloaded from email, one-click Things integration, and the following, which was the straw that broke the camels back for me: you know when you are addressing an email and the app gives you a list of possible matches to autofill the address. Well in Spark Desktop, it was somehow populating that list with email addresses that weren't in my contact list, were generally from Spammy marketing emails AND there was no way to delete said address from that suggestion list. There's a way to do that on the iOS Spark, but not on Spark Desktop. Also, it seems like the priority for this app is to pursue enterprise users that need team integrations and built-in calendars, but that's not me. I'm sure those features are well-executed because... well.. Readdle. But I don't need the new stuff they're focusing on and I do need classic features that haven't found their way into this version.
