If I'm ever setting up a new version of macOS, this is one of the first things I install. I've been using this app since Yosemite when macOS did not have window splitting in the operating system (this came along in El Capitan). Now I'm on Mojave but I've kept using this app over the built-in macOS window resizing functionality because it more closely mirrors the windows resizing in Windows and Linux (common distros like Ubuntu). One of the key distinctions here is that you can make it resize in your current desktop with key shortcuts. The built in OS window splitting implies that if you want to move a window to a side, you have to pair it in half with another window (meaning you have to know which window you want to split half the desktop with) or you have to have it full screen.My favorite parts about the app are the ability to assign keyboard shortcuts to moving the windows and it runs with a subtle and clean icon in the top bar making it almost feel built in with OS.

Sometimes I watch youtube/netflix/hulu and use a browser at the same time. Sometimes I use onenote and a browser at the same time. Sometimes I use sublimetext and reference github at the same time. Sometimes I clean data w/ textwrangler and upload data using filezilla or the terminal window at the same time. Etc. etc. This app lets me do all that quickly and efficiently.I’ve been using the splitscreen app almost since it was released, and have yet to find a better solution to using and manipulating two screens/apps at the same time. I introduced it to my colleagues a few years ago and we’ve all been using it since. addendum: I do mostly back-end work, so usually only need one monitor.

I have been using this Split Screen Application for five years now and I have to say that my experience has been great .. Its great for anyone sorting multiple files into groups or writing a reaserch paper .. it’s great for having word open on the Left side of the screen and having reaserch documents on the Right side .. Easily Copy and Paste without having to bounce back and forth between apps since they are side by side on the same screen .. Thats just one example, In my studies I have found many uses for this Application .. The icon in the Menu Bar makes it quick to change between Left, Right or full screen Center, the short cuts are even faster and customizable ..

As stated, I rarely leave reviews but the app asked if I would and I like it enough that I said sure.Here's the bottom line: If you are working off one screen and are constantly tabbing between windows or manually resizing windows to fit both onto your screen, this app will be pure gold for you. This isn't a life changing app or anything. It's just an app that simply and ideally solves a simple but frustrating problem. Every time I use it I think of the friend who recommended it to me and am thankful they did.
