Temp Viewer is a free, lightweight menu bar app that shows your Mac’s thermal (heat) status at a glance. After you open it, look near the clock for a colored thermometer. There’s no Dock icon and no big main window. Click the icon anytime for a clear status readout and simple controls. Why it helps When your Mac runs hot, it can slow down (thermal throttling) and work harder than it needs to. Spotting heat early makes it easier to ease the load by closing heavy apps to give it a breath of air. Over time this can help your machine stay healthier and last longer. How the colors work The thermometer changes with your Mac’s thermal state: • Cooler / Normal — calm green-style indicator when things are fine • Warm — shifts as heat rises • Throttling — stronger cue when the system is under thermal pressure A quick look at the menu bar tells you the story without digging through settings or activity tools. Optional notifications: Turn on “Notify on temperature changes” in the menu if you want a banner when the thermal state changes . For example from Normal to Warm or Throttling, so you notice even when you’re focused on other work. Notifications are optional and stay under your control in System Settings.
