Nine apps. One widget. One tap.
WhyNot puts a tiny app drawer on your Home Screen. Pick up to nine apps, choose a style, and every one of them launches with a single tap. No folders to open. Many apps launch straight from the widget, the rest pass through WhyNot for a moment, and the picker tells you which is which.
BUILD IT YOUR WAY
• Up to nine apps in the smallest widget size. One app or nine, the layout adapts.
• Light and Dark show the real app icons, as they look on a light or a dark Home Screen. Mono and Ghost are two quieter looks.
• Fill, or anchor the drawer to a corner for a folder-like cluster.
• Hold a tile and drag it to rearrange.
• More than 350 apps and growing. Tested by hand and improved with each update. Missing one? Ask for it from the picker and it goes on the list.
CLOCKS WITH CHARACTER
• Dial: a quiet analog clock inspired by classic industrial design. Small, medium, and a large desk clock with your week laid out underneath.
• Flip: a split-flap clock that rolls over on the minute.
• Every widget is built for light mode, dark mode, and the Clear look. Pin any widget to always light or always dark, whatever your phone is set to.
MADE TO BE LOOKED AT
Every widget is drawn by hand, with real shadows, real materials, and one light source. Nothing is a template. Nothing is a screenshot of something else.
PACKS (one-time purchases)
• Quartz: a desk clock from the nineties, in seven cases from olive to cream. A window for the date, the day or the temperature, numerals in figures or Roman. Tap to open Clock.
• Vinyl: your record on a turntable, drawn after the classic Braun deck. The album artwork is the label, the record turns while Apple Music plays, the arm lifts when it stops, and back, play and next work from the widget. Small is the platter, medium is the whole deck.
• Tally: a desk calculator from the seventies, on your Home Screen. Every key works. Small for quick sums, large for the whole instrument. Keeps the last result.
• Frontpage: your day as a newspaper front page, in the tall widget size that arrived with iOS 27. The next event is the headline, more events and your reminders run in columns, real headlines from a source you choose or your own feed fill the fold, and tomorrow's weather closes the page. Three newspaper typefaces, newsprint grain, pressed type.
• Console: your day at a glance. What is next and how long until it, the week ahead, and the sky, one tap apart on the widget. Every block opens Calendar or Weather directly.
• Golden: when the light will be good. Golden hour and blue hour for where you are, on one living sky where the sun rises and sets across your Home Screen. The time is lit by the light of the moment. Tap to open the Camera.
• WhyNot Pro: Scenes, your drawer set in a place, with the apps that belong there. Glass, the drawer on a frosted panel with your wallpaper showing through. Unlimited drawers, each widget showing a different one. Gradient backgrounds inspired by iPhone finishes or your own two colors.
Buy once, keep forever. No subscriptions.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account. No tracking. No analytics. Your drawers live on your phone and nowhere else. Console, Golden and Frontpage use your approximate location for Apple Weather and, if you allow it, the calendars and reminder lists you choose. A feed you add is fetched by your phone, not by us. Nothing about you ever reaches us.

I purchased the front page widgets for $10, which is a hefty price for one widget, but I did it anyway. and I love it. But the issue with it is that I want to add my own RSS feed to the news section, and I want to be able to create reminders and calendar events, and if I choose the no news option, I want to see more of my reminders and more of my calendar events instead of some blank space
Great idea, but unclear delivery

There's a lot of potential here, and I'll gladly update this review as the app improves. Also to be clear it’s 1 star because the app is not usable for me. I can’t actually add widgets because none of my apps are supported. More on that in 2.1. What does Pro include? I paid $9.99 for Pro and still can't tell what it does. Every widget is still a separate purchase ($5.99–$9.99 each, about $48 for everything). After reinstalling without restoring, I could still make unlimited drawers, so it isn't that either. The only place to manage purchases is the settings screen inside the Widgets tab, and neither the app nor the App Store listing explains Pro. Please spell out what's included before people buy.2. App support: None of the apps I actually use (Home Assistant, UniFi, Tailscale, Twingate) are supported. The request system is nice, but it's a waiting list. Give us a fallback for unsupported apps, even if it's through Apple Shortcuts.3. Feature request: Let us bring in widgets we've already bought through your site.E, your past work set a high bar, and I know this is early. The ceiling is high. I'm an iOS developer myself, and I'd be glad to help build some of this out. I'll reach out through the contact form on your site.
Drawer Recentering
Boom Roasted
I love this app, and it is really clean and exactly what I’ve been looking for. But is there any way that you guys could work on recent centering the apps if you have less than nine. Currently you have a grid that is nine apps, but I really only want four in this drawer but the problem is it is not centered. or look good when you don’t have them all filled in.

I’m curious what a “no news” front page looks like, but the preview still displays news when you configure no news. I’m not paying $10 to find out, please fix, thanks! The clock widget is gorgeous, and I’m tempted by some of the others, worth an install to play around with the nicely designed widgets.
Dark icons. Your real app icons, redrawn for a dark Home Screen. Pick Dark in the drawer's styles. The four styles are now Light, Dark, Mono and Ghost.
More apps launch straight from the widget. Over half of the list now opens with no stop in WhyNot, and the picker still tells you which is which.
Fixes, with thanks to everyone who wrote in:
• Glass now turns on the moment you choose it. No more black drawer.
• Console no longer flashes white when you tap a day.
• Renaming a drawer works when it has a scene. Tap the name or the pencil.
• After you change a permission in Settings, WhyNot reopens where you left it.
